nails or liquid nails? Why?
Reason I'm asking is because I don't have a nail gun and I can already see myself ruining the wood.
Also what is the one on the floor called. The trim for the bottom....

baseboard?
I used a finish nailer on all my door casing, baseboard, and crown molding. Then silicone to seal it. I'm sure it could be done, but it's pretty hard to screw up trim with a pnuematic finish nailer. If you think you're capable of that, you might want to go ahead and hire someone to do your molding for you. You're going to have a MUCH harder time with the cuts/mitres than you'll have with the nailer.

I suppose you could use liquid nails but if you ever decide to replace it you're going to have some real damage to repair on the drywall.

Finish nails.
'Cause that's how the guys who do it for a livinng do it.
If your worried about busting up the wood with a hammer, just use a small drill bit and pre-drill it.

I wouldn't even be worried about that. Brads aren't going to damage crown molding. The only thing he needs to worry about is denting up the wood with his hammer. Of course that's what a nail set was invented for...
Of course a nail gun would take care of that anyways.

for $150 you can get a small air compressor and a finishing nail gun. WELL worth it then manually knocking in the nails

Don't liquid nail. It would be a mistake. Borrow or rent a nailer and pancake compressor or drill and nail by hand. Don't short cut.

You'll still have to hammer/nail set in some places though. We set the pressure so it would sink in a bit, and when nailing in to some studs it didn't have enough pressure. I spent a total of maybe 20 minutes with a nail set and hammer tapping in the few nails that didn't sink in all the way.

nails. You can buy a decent nail gun, compressor, and accessories at harbor freight for CHEAP, if you don't want to do it the old fashioned way.
