I have some of my yard that is not sodded with burmuda grass. I was wanting to see what would be the easiest to start with just throwing seeds out and letting mother nauture take it from there. Any ideas/experiences? Thanks!

throw more burmuda seed, fertilize and water the shit out of it for a few months and poof - you have a full yard.

Don't do Bermuda seeds yet, too early. They will not grow until it warms up, and if they are planted now, they will take even longer to germinate. There is some fescue that will grow quicky, then in May plant Bermuda in with it.

yeah i forgot about the need for warm germination.
i've had a yard mixed with fescue & burmuda and that combo worked pretty good together.

mine is now, and the fescue is growing pretty good.
yup... Bermuda goes really well in the hot summers...but you do need to wait a while before you throw that seed out. Im still seeing some really nice yards with winter rye

I think I am going to throw out winter rye for now.........when should I throw out the burmuda seed????

With the weather warming up..it might be a bit late to do a winter rye. Winter ryes can last up to around the mid 80's outside... We are already getting close to those temps..when we get a constant 80+ outside, its going to die. Winter rye is a great grass but sometimes it doesnt die in time to let the bermuda really grow. So its a crap shoot really.
You might be able to get the winter rye to grow over the next couple weeks.. but I dont think its going to last to much longer. If I remember right, mid to late April starts the bermuda season. I would have bermuda seed down by the third week of April

heres your plan, buy and sow some rye for now (quicker germination than fescue), in mid may seed the same area with bermuda seed, at the same time buy some revolver to spray the rye with, it will take about 7 to 14 days to kill the rye and the revolver has no effect on bermuda. purchase revolver at lesco service center, however it is expensive (around 130/quart, but it wont take that much as it goes out very lightly)
