I was not sure how much to do, so I bought 25 bags of it. That shit is deep up there. About 18" on average. Buried all the hoses for the duct work. I may look into one of those solar powered attic fans. I heard there are some that can replace the twirly birds. (top half) Where do you find these?

That will put you at about R45. Quite possibly the best "bang-for-your-buck" towards that electric bill. Good move!

They don't move anywhere close to enough air. Make sure you blow the insulation off your soffit vents under the eve and their screens are clean. My son, Chris hates his two solars because the attic is still 120+ and they both work but they don't move air worth a hoot. 1 electric fan on a thermostat will move about 5x the amount of air the solars do. I have 2 - 2speed 120v fans in mine. I don't have to run any AC till the outside temp is over 85.
Another thing, if the time comes for a new roof, chooze a lighter color, not a dark.

Gonna hate me now but for others thinking of doing this txu has a program with mdt that will do r45 rating for 75.00. I wil find the number tonight. If your house was built in 80's to 90's and has poor insulation its a gov deal. Instead of refunding big profit they made they were givin the option to help electric consumers. Five guys on my block didd it, my mom and 8 of her friends and my LT had everyone on his block done. Not a scam. Call thhem leave a message and they will call you back in a week.

I tried to be sure to keep off the eves when blowing. Hopefully I did not get any sufficient amount there.

Yes, I did use the cellulose. To be honest I did not know there was a better route to take. I just said fuck it and got it done. Original insullation was only to the top of the rafters. Roughly 6". I was drinking when I posted this last night. It's not quite going to be 18" on average. More like 14" with some spots 18" :o My dick was much longer last night too. :D

I actually went into home depot to get the cellulose too, but the guy where you rent the sprayer started schooling me on the atticat. Otherwise I would have bought cellulose. Good thing is, is that in a few years you can go back and spray the atticat over the cellulose when it gets done compressing all the way.

I need to do this. How much higher is the AttiCat than cellulose? How much does the machine cost to rent?
I had a company give me an estimate, and I believe it was around $700. If it's that much cheaper to do myself, I most certainly will.

Don't know what the cat costs. Cellulose is 6.87 per bag, rental on blower is free on 20 bags plus.

Atticat is 26.97 per bag, but you only need about half as much as cellulose. IE, If you would need 20 bags cellulose you would only need 10 bags of the other. Still costs more though, but worth it IMO.
And if you bag 10 bags, you get the sprayer for one day free.
