Well, the Rangers may not have gotten much better overall but they will score more runs this year. This Hamilton kid has it all. Hit's with power and for average, throws well, great speed. He did very well in Cincinatti last year before an injury. #1 prospect out of HS. In terms of pure skills, he is a Mickey Mantle type player.
I bet he puts up 30+HR, 100+ RBI. I am not a Ranger fan although I pull for them a bit. I will go to more games to see this guy play.

He looks like a very exciting player. I hope he doesn't become injured early on though, that's the one knock against him is his propensity to the injury bug because of all the drugs he took.

The Rangers always have, and always will suck until they get the proper owner and management in place.

I thought this Salty kid was a stud, why did they send him to AAA?
I heard a report that of all the trades John Daniels has made not one player we got in return is on the current major league roster.

Well that's wrong. Kason Gabbard and Brandon McCarthy are two that he brought on. And of course Josh Hamilton. He's not a bad GM, he just happens to have a tightwad of an owner.

Jon Lester? I think they are pumping Laird up to increase his trade value. He's a like a Rod Barajas without the power:).

Count me as a Josh Hamilton fan before it is considered "bandwagon". I watched him make 2 amazing freakin' catches tonight against Seattle so far. One was a "Willie Mays-like" basket catch going towards teh wall and another, he went from left center field to right center field to track down a long fly ball. Rangers just might have themselves a centerfielder!! Anyone know if he has a cannon for an arm?

Yeah, dude can play. I think I might watch more just to watch this guy. Course, I said I was out before the season started, but I've watched both games so far...
I am a glutton for punishment, but Millwood pitched a great 6 innings last nite, and Padilla has looked solid tonite.

I figured I might watch opening day, but for the next few days, I don't have to be at work until 9, so I've been staying up late. And since the game has been on, I just naturally gravitated to it.
Speaking of Josh...he just hustled out a hit. Don't think anyone else on the team would have got a hit out of that. He can move for a 6'4" tall dude.
As for Padilla and Millwood...we're in Seattle...most folks pitch well here. Not a high 'runs scored' park.

the rangers are scraping by to keep it close, but playing like this they won't last long.
Hamilton is a nice surprise though...he's quick, especially for as big as he is. It was nice to see Guadardo pitch well tonight as well.

Well Josh Hamilton had the game winning HR last night in the 9th. It's only been two games but he's looked impressive so far... what hasn't looked impressive is Rangers bullpen. The starting pitching has been solid so far, but the bullpen can't stop the opposing team from scoring.

And the bullpen/pitchers...they can stop the opposing team from scoring. The pitcher can't help it his team can't field the ball. Kinsler had 2 errors last night and MYoung has 2 in the first 2 games. On the previous night AND last night, runs got in because the catcher couldn't catch the ball. Rangers have given up 9 runs in 2 games, only 5 of them are earned. You keep giving up 2 unearned runs a game, you won't get far.

Yeah, you're right. The infield defense has definately been very bad these last couple of games. I think the Rangers are going to miss Texiera's glove alot more than his bat.

Agreed. Blalock and Kinsler both have career cases of fumblitis, Blalock hasn't done much the past few years, and Kinsler is off to a shaky start (granted it's only two games). Blalock is one of the most overhyped players to ever come through the Rangers farm system.
It's going to be a long season...they can't expect to win if they keep playing like this.

Saw in the papers this morning that Young has the flu and had a 104 deg temp yesterday...Kinsler has the flu as well. They need to be sitting not playing!

I am gonna have to give those fielding errors off to the cold. It was in the high30s/low 40s. That's shitty weather to be playing ball in, especially when you've been sick. Two games in, I am not gonna freak out about it.
Hopefully, Jon Daniels and Hicks are finally gonna stick to a rebuilding plan, and keep Josh Hamilton around if he continues to improve his game. Dude is not old enough to trade away, and if he gets close to a big payout, they should give it to him, if he deserves it. If they can keep him, putting him with Kinsler and Young, and if Salty or Teagarten live up to their hype, thats a solid middle of the field for at least a few more years, and if they can build around them, they could become a contender....(hoping for that anyway)

If Blalock plays like he played when he got back from his injury last season(where he hit over 300), and he stays healthy, then he'll have a good year.
Blalock didn't have any of the errors. Michael Young accounted for one last night, and the night before, and he's one of the best at his position.

Not to mention, Ian Kinsler came down with the flu Monday. Blalock and Young came down with it yesterday. That might have something to do with it also.

It's definately too early to be making guesses at the rest of the season, but I hope that everything comes together for them. It's been a long time since the Rangers have been relevant in the MLB.
