Wow. I figured he'd give it another year or two, but I guess not.

At least Rogers will have a better chance when they play Dallas. :p

But LOLz :DThe heartbreaking loss was especially sour to Favre, whose last pass was intercepted by Giants cornerback Corey Webster.

It's Randy Moss' fault

ESPN.com news services
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that according to Favre's agent, Buss Cook, Favre informed Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his decision Monday night.
A sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer, Favre, acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, led the Packers back to the NFL's elite. He retires with 5,377 carrer completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 288 interceptions, passing Dan Marino's touchdown mark last season.
As a player Favre was known for his durability, his willingness to take risks and turn broken plays into big gains and the way his love for the game was evident in the way he played. He went to a pair of Super Bowls in 1996 and 1997, winning it all on his first try, as well as nine Pro Bowls.
Cook said as of Tuesday morning, there were no plans for Favre to hold a news conference.
Favre, who returned for the 2007 season when many thought he should have left the game, had a career renaissance in his final season and led the Packers to the NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants in overtime.
Mortensen reported that Favre, who wanted the Packers to obtain Randy Moss when he was a free agent last season, had once again pushed for Moss to join the Packers. Favre had spoken to Moss late last week and was willing to commit to more than just this season if Moss and the Packers could come to an agreement. But the Packers did not pursue Moss, who re-signed with the Patriots on Monday.
ESPN NFL reporter Chris Mortensen contributed to this story.

I dont see them being as bad as 8-8, but its pretty obvious that you will take a decline in production when you lose one of the greatest qb's of all time. I like Rodgers, he seems to move well in and out of the pocket. One thing I do seem him being is injured all the time. Packer fans have alot to look forward to though, with Favre at qb last year we were still the youngest team in the nfl...and we just got younger. I predict 11-5, the nfc is just too damn weak.

My Zune had just died on my way back home and I was listening to 93.3, The Bone. The DJ was talking about how torn up he was about Favre retiring, and his illustrious career, and all the records, and I was getting fed up with it. And then he said, "but his greatest accomplishment...*pause*...is forever being Dallas' bitch." Greatness, I say. I couldn't stop laughing.

Even though you're a fudgePacker, I agree. I don't know about 11-5 though. I will wait to make that decision when I see their schedule. But it's not like they are going to go from a NFC Championship contender, to 4-12 just because of a QB change. Perhaps on a team with a weaker supporting staff, which GB is not. Rodgers did decent in Dallas. That's the only time I've seen him play. But he doesn't appear to be terrible or anything. And yes, the NFC is weak. They're getting stronger, but just not there yet.

Ha! Honestly, as queer as it sounds, I was almost in tears when I first heard it. His press conference tomorrow will be pretty hard to watch, it will at least give me chills. I know the Packers will be ok, but everything is still up in the air with the qb position. If you seriously sit back and think about his record of 253 consecutive starts, at that position, I dont think it will ever be beat.

It just takes one (or more) 'roided-up cocksuckers to blow it all to Hell (not that Ripken, Jr., was a 'roided-up cocksucker, but that's the most comparable to Favre's).

I was surprised he retired after only being a game away from the SB and having a great season. Im not sure if they make it back to the playoffs since no team has won that divison back to back years for quite some time. Which is bad since both wild card teams will come out of the east like the past couple years.

LOL, so why was it a big deal to mention how great Favre was if it is a team sport? The comparison still stands, each was a QB on a great team, some have a good ratio of skins to years played, some don't. I dare say few would choose Favre's career over Roger or Troy.

Since Sanders make people miss and Jim Brown was pretty much like barber. For the long run sanders. And sanders were with the cowboys in the 90's he would have over 20,000 yards rushing and way better numbers then brown.

Thats because anybody that does that shit is like 80 years old and think any players play back before the 80's are the greatest players of all time. That happens in any sports. The only thing brown has on sanders is, sanders like to dance around in the back field a lot and lost a lot of yards.

I know there are greater plays that played back when. Its just when espn or any sports article does top ten players at whatever position for whatever sports. At least 60-70% of the time is players pre 80's. And I know there were better players post 80's and pre-2000. Also I said the people who voted for that shit are 80 years old not all the players. ;)
