Help me choose the better helmet.

Shoei RF-1000 Sever TC-1 helmet. The helmet will be sent to KI Kustoms in Alabama to have all the red painted to Kawasaki Green.

also gotta look at the quality of the helmet. the closest HJC to a Shoei rf-1000 would be a ac-12 carbon, which comes in the Vader graphics and Elbowz (Ben Spies) graphics, not the cs-12.

Yeah, what he said too.....

each thing I listed is a different model of helmet. The Shoei RF-1000 is their 2nd best helmet, with the best being the X-11. The HJC AC-12 is HJC's 2nd best helmet with the best being the Carbon version of the AC-12, which is made of carbon fiber, and used in pro racing by Ben Spies and others. The HJC CS-12 is not on the same level as the AC-12 in any form.

AC-12 Elbowz (one of my fave helmets, and has TX paint scheme):

I've been riding motorcycles since I was 11 years old, and was always taught that the best helmet you can afford is the right one.

I have roadraced motorcycles, taught as an on-track instructor at a roadracing school (Ed Bargy Racing School), and was Chief Technical/Saftey Inspector for the Western-Eastern Roadracing Association (WERA) for the Southeast Region and the Grand National Finals at Road Atlanta.

I have seen people survive horrific accidents, and seen people die. I have crashed twice; once on the street at 30MPH, once on the track at 80MPH. A helmet can only save you up to a point, but why wouldn't you want that point to be as high as possible?

I love motorcycles, and somehow feel a kinship with anyone else that rides, regardless of age, race, sex, or politics. For this reason, I hope you think about how much your head is worth, and open your wallet accordingly.

Ride safe. Live long.

Buy the Shoei.

That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. When it comes to anything you'll get what you pay for.

Be smart and spend the extra money on a Shoei or an Arai, even if it means putting off your riding for a month or two.

LMAO...the highest safety rated helmet I've seen lately is an $80 rig!!

Buy what fits you best and is DOT certified! Fuck fashion!! The comfort you get from a good lid will hopefully make you confident enough not to fuck up bad enough to crash...

Documentation to prove that? Because I find it hard to believe that an $80 helmet is rated the highest.

If it fits good than stay with it. The HJC CS is a step down anyway from an RF1000.

I'd like to see actual test numbers provided, i'm not going to believe that based on a write up that excluded numbers from the tests.

I still have yet to see numbers where they are testing each model helmet from each manufacturer(sp?).

they can't blatantly state which brand is which helmet in the tests, so they label them as numbers or letters. Saying which is which would probably lead to less sales for certain brands, and so they can't do that.

I guess I don't see why they couldn't do that, I mean they do that with auto crash tests.

I guess I see why they couldn't do that. And I know the reason that the Federal Government can name names is because they do not do advertising for any auto manufacturer.

Fixed! ;)
