PSU suggestions

Building a new PC and stumped on the PSU to get. Here are the specs:

EVGA nForce 780i mobo
Intel Q6700
EVGA 8800GT OC (possibly SLi)
4GB (2x 2GB) G.Skill DDR2800
3 or 4 SATA HDDs
2x SATA Optical drives

according to neweggs calc you need 860w assuming sli.

Why so many sata drives? I'd just mirror and be done.

I just run a single drive but I have a file server with 4 500gb drives in raid 5

Yeah I am contemplating running a file server instead to avoid having to have so many HDDs in my computer. I really would rather have one 74GB raptor, and one 500-750GB storage drive on the computer itself and then a file server in the house.

I already used newegg's calc, but I was more focused on things like the 12v rail and reliability of the unit

pc power and cooling psu's are the best by far but expensive, corsair's new psus are pretty good and not so expensive. both of them have a single high amp 12 volt rail which is what your looking for

Nub question, when you say single 12v rail, does that mean one BIG thing making the 12volts instead of 4 smaller things (technical name) making it add up to 650 watts. The opposite of discrete home audio amps?

Someone told me that not every company rates there wattage the same. Most companies display max watts and few do RMS? :confused:
