About 4 months ago i got my first bike a 07 R6 not bad for a begginers ride.
a few of my other buddies have gotten a bikes too..a 07 gsxr, 01 r6 ,07 busa.
we all went out riding saturday night for the first time. Ive been trying to find a few experienced riders to ride with and find out where the riders hang out at.
as for me and my friends were all newbies if anybody can give me any tips or where you ride at. Its better to ride with a group, I was heading home around 10:30pm when a little rice burner almost hit me i had to swearve into the oncoming lanes, thankfully no cars were stopped the little fucker ran the red light. just gimme some tips...

Hit the back roads like 1187. Get more seat time. Be ready for close calls, just hope you can keep calling them close calls.

Its a recipe for disaster for him to ride in a group of experienced riders...ride by yourself trust me it's not worth riding with a bunch of idiots that ride around Ft.Worth area find you 1 or 2 guys to ride with and call it a day.

Just watch out for the troopers that hide on it  I used to ride 377 to 1187 and follow it around to azle. Nice little ride, not much traffic and lots of straights to pass.

Check out DFWSportBike.net you can find riders over there. Also, most of the people that I know that ride in a group tend to do a lot more hanging around in parking lots then actual riding. Then when they do start riding they just want to show off which has a tendency to get dangorous fast.

My best advice: Take a beginners course... Right now you are probably body stearing your bike instead of counter stearing. The worst part about that is that if you have to get out of somebodys way and swerve, pulling your self back into the right lane is going to be very difficult. Get your self in a parking lot and practice going from right to left using the power of the handle bars. Push on one bar and see where it takes you push on the other one and see what happens.

Practice Practice Practice. Also, get some really good gear. As a rider, its not if you ever wreck, its when your going to wreck, because you will wreck, you always want to be prepared for it.

No problem man. Have fun and enjoy the next couple of months because its going to be hot before you know it. Check out Thursday night at the Sonic on N.W. Hwy and 635 in Garland. That whole parking lot is full of bikes almost every Thursday nigt when the weather is good. Make sure you get there before 9:00.

So riding with guys thats been riding for years that tend to crank up the speed and hit the corners hard is a good idea for a newbie rider to try and hang with them??? GTFO man.

Like i said and rob has said ride with your buddy's and do some Ridesmart trackdays and get comfortable with your bike and learn your real abilitys and limits on your bike on trackdays and get proper instruction. I ride level in 3 & 4 and ill be more than happy to help ya learn on your bike and have friends that are ridesmart instructors and will teach you alot.

Sorry for ranting but i use to ride with local sportbike group and time and time again seen newbies going down trying to hang and riding beyond there abilitys and it isnt pretty seeing ppl going down @ 100 mph rolling down the freeway.

Im not your daddy you do what you want just trying to help a fellow new rider out.

Be careful before you rush out to do a group ride. If you really want to push your bike, take it to the track. I've been on group rides and to trackdays. At trackdays I'd feel perfectly comfortable riding a foot away from a level 3 rider in a corner at 60-70mph. But on the street, I keep at least a car's distance between me and any other bikes, and thats just going straight. People on group ride tend to ride like jackasses. I've seen people 2-up going 160

You'll have to hit me up sometime when y'all are looking to ride. I'm in Arlington, but always looking for people to ride with. Several of us on here do decent length rides every now and then. be sure to watch for those posts.
