Corp Antivirus Solutions

I work for a company that has over 220 corp desktops, 1000+ employees and we are looking to change virus clients. We currently have Trendmicro which works 90% of the time. Most of the time it detects spyware/malware/virii/pron but can't get rid of it. we have to do it remotely.

Most companies do exactly what you're doing already, and then just fire the fuck ups that are going to sites they shouldn't. :)

We use Symantec now and my division has over 500 users, many of which completely ignore our business system use policy. I've seen everything from playing online poker to streaming webcams.

Symantic here as well, but we are a small office. Symantic has no problem getting rid of the trash.

We use McAfee at my work. You may look into getting some sort of filtering solution such as Websense or SurfControl to free up some bandwidth and get rid of the pr0n.

We use McAfee with ePolicy Orchestrator... with EPO, you can push clients, upgrades and updates... you can kick off remote scans and all kinds of things including policy enforcement... its pretty cool... we have 600 users at 50 plants (coast to coast) ranging in size from 1 to 100 users...

I have several clients, and each one uses something different, based upon price, funtionality, etc...

I've used Symantec Corporate, which has always had some issues, but for the most part it does it's job
we recently installed McAfee, which i haven't had a chance to mess with much
BitDefender is very effective, once you tweak it, and learn everything
I've heard the AVAST! Corporate is wonderful, I've yet to use it, but it's the next product we are looking at.
Trend Micro is decent, just misses things here and there, but then again, nothing is perfect.

That won't be happening any time soon. We do drywall and they never figured they needed an IT dept. About 16 months ago, they joined two companies and now they formed an IT dept. So we are SLOWLY getting shit together. We are looking at some bandwidth management stuff, but so far we don't have major policy or content management systems in yet. We prob won't since we have the attitude of get your work done and have fun doing it. We made like 70mil 2 years and broke 110 last year.

One of my clients is a good old boy company, that deals with systems integration, PLC/RTUs... The brought us in to help them implement a lot of changes, controls, etc.... In the end they don't want to filter anything, nor stop the day to day file sharing/downloading that's going on there. They are a great company to support, someone always breaks shit :)

Yup. We have stopped the file sharing, but we need to fix the streaming music.

For an open source content filtering option look at a linux/squid/dansguardian combo. There is even a prebuilt VM of it on the VMware site that I use here at home to protect my kiddos.

I work for Symantec, but in prior Veritas Backup and Recovery products mostly. One of my customers with 8,000 users switched from McAfee to SEP 11 and found 12,000 infections that McAfee did not find.

I have both Symantec & McAfee products in my personal pc's (all 6 of them)

Mostly just use something and keep it current.

It might be a fluke, but we steadily have customers with Symantec having problems while our TrendMicro (note we are a trendmicro reseller) customers never have issues. Works nice for us since we can usually sell a trendmicro solution then after we help clean up their systems...etc

I don't think anyone actually uses Mcafee, so I don't know anything about it. (I kid stang2be. :D)

Sep11 MR2 will release the end of March/ 1st of April. Be sure to upgrade as there as some significant fixes included if you have a large network.
