Bose would be way down my list. They were one of the pioneers originally, but there are many products that are better and more cost effective. I'm using Wharfedale and Klipsch products right now, and for the money, they're fine. Your budget will determine a lot about what will work for you.

seems that boston acoustics is still very popular and always top of the line.

what about infinity floor speakers? The beta series?

Infinity is known for being in the "chain stores", along with some of the JBL and Cerwin Vega stuff. On a tight budget, they are fine.
I just googled the Infinity Beta "kit", and it runs about $2k and has good reviews.

I can put something together for you, hit me up with a PM and I will explain more. I just need to know what you want to invest in the entire media room, i.e. audio, video, furniture....

Interested as well. I'm going to need speakers, receiver, etc. I have a shitty Samsung HTIB setup that took a shit on my living room floor.
Willing to spend some money, but I'm not spending a fortune, either.

I have some 8 year old boston acoustic speakers. Still some of the best sounding speakers I have heard.
On that note though, I'm looking to buy some in wall 8ohm speakers for my setup. Need the 3 fronts to be in wall, then my rear's I'm going to put in the ceiling. I have the Sony STR-DG910 7.1 and would like to finish off the setup. Still trying to research for the best possible buy.

Here's some on-wall speakers that are awesome. I have the regular version of these and they are amazing.

I really like my Kefs. Spent $1300 on a set of components in my truck to try and recreate the sound, not quite there.

Damn. What components did you go with?

Look up Definitive Technologies, some really nice speakers if you've ever heard them in a Best Buy Magnolia room. I plan on picking up a full set for myself here soon...gotta love the employee discount.

Diamond D971s, actually paid $800 but MSRP is $1300. Probably should have clarified that. With building the new rack for the crossovers, dynamat and dynaxorb it ended up being $1300 out the door.

Sweet. My ears always perk up when I see another person who will throw a bunch of money at their car audio setup. I'd like to check yours out some time.

Everyone's ears are different. What you like to hear, may sound like crap to someone else. Best advice is to demo as much equiptment as you can, and make your own decisions. Most companies will have a no hassle return policy.
Trust me, I have spent countless amounts of cash on my HT set up, and for me, it sounds awesome. The bass pressurized the room so much, stuff moves :D But you may come over, and think it sounds like crap. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to HT stuff.
However, I would sugest that you check into running seperates if your wallet will allow it. Best decision I've ever made ;)

I like Paradigm speakers. I have some Monitor 3's for fronts that I got from Hillcrest a few years ago. I paid for a set of Mini Monitors but the guy loaded the 3's in my car. I also have a Paradigm sub that rocks. I also have a Marantz receiver which I love.
