I don't need a huge one, maybe a 32" or so. I'd like to get it today.
TIA

DLP's usually start at 42" and up. Your best bet would be to go to Fry's and look at the specials they have. If you don't want to buy there, you can go some where else and have them price match. You should be able to get a 46"-52" 1080p for around $1k locally. It will most likely be a Mitsubishi/Toshiba/Panasonic.

Ok, I've always heard that Samsung is preferred for DLP's. Is this the case or not? What do you recommend?

My personal experience with Samsung would keep me away from them with their DLP's, however I know a lot do have good experiences with them. I would recommend their LCD's as I have one and it's pretty impressive.
Really, for the price you're wanting to spend, they will all likely be about the same. You'll just generally get more size for your money with Mitsu/Toshiba/Panasonic, then Samsung/Sony. (I purposely left out the non-name-brands).

If you are looking for ANY tv, go to sams club. You can return it with in a year, no questions asked, I have done this MANY TIMES I even broke the first one, they dont care. Just keep your reciept and turn it in, full credit in the store, or cash back. Works on ANY electronic, except laptops only have 6 months warranty.

sams and costco (better than sams in returns/warranties IMO) are BAD ASS!! i dont understand why you buy anywhere else unless it is just a realllllyyy good deal (like shit at frys on sale)

Sam's is overpriced for TV's, they have basically the worst selection.

Because Sam's/Costco doesn't usually carry late-models. They're usually behind around 6 months for the most part. Unless you're talking about Vizio, which they have agreements with and they peddle their stuff out pretty frequently.
I do agree with the warranty statements, however the selection just doesn't match up for the most part. For the casual viewers this works pretty well because they get a better warranty and only pay a little more up front.
Sam's prices on TV's (like Wal-mart) really aren't competitve. Costco does a much better job at pricing electronics competitively.

i honestly dont buy too much stuff from sams b/c of that very reason. sometimes they get good deals but most of the time i go to costco. even with the overpriced shit and not a great selection, i am willing to compromise on both to gain the quality of customer service and peace of mind with easy returns. best buy is shit. frys is better but no where near costco

Mucho grassy for the link! That price w/ their 3 or 5yr warranty is cheaper than Frys "sale" price.
