Colo4Dallas will be upgrading service to the power circuit to which your tower
server is currently connected. In an effort to minimize downtime, we will move
your server to a location that has an upgraded circuit currently in place. The
server will need to be shut down, physically moved to an adjacent rack and
powered back on. The downtime should not exceed 5 minutes. This can be
completed at any time of your choosing prior to Sunday, Feb 10 at 11pm CST.

Please update this ticket letting us know when the best time to perform the
physical move will be.

My server hasn't been
restarted since Saturday, September 18, 2004 :(

WTF? They don't have redundant power circuits?

Back at Perot we could have replaced out power all the way out to the power lines and still not had an outage. There is power redundancy at every level.

that's what I was wondering...but I don't know anything about servers, so I didn't ask. :o

Sgt Beavis,

When did you work at Perot? Sounds like the dfwstangs.net server is at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 at best type data center. Perot is a Tier 4 data center with dual power feeds, dual redundant/reversable routes of cooling with a 2.5 millon gal day tank of chilled water, four points of entry of telco. Our data center preventive maintenence schedule requires us have a controlled failure to roll power to each side and load test the generators.

I stopped working there last June.

Don't forget the heavily armed security force they have at Perot.
