I raced my first race at village this weekend. I learned a few things lol. I raced beginner but they paired us with the 250 intermediate since the entries were low. I was only a turn or so behind the last intermediates so im gonna race novice next time.
So much for being a drag racer lol. Notice how im the only one leaned forward, and Im the only one spinning on the concrete haha. I was 3rd or something by the end of the start straight.

That's odd that they paired you guys with the intermediates. Usually they will do the beginners and novices together, and just give the first gate to the novices.
So what place did you actually come in?

Hey Nick. Badlands has a race march 1st. What size bike are you running? We should try to both race in that. Their site says they are having trackmasters change the track up.

I won the beginner class. Got a big trophy lol. I came in I think 6th first moto and 5th the second when paired with intermediates.

It sounds like you should skip the novice and move up to intermediates!!

I dunno lol. Eppers was probably a good half track ahead of me in first place. I think novice would be some good racing and I could be near the front. Maybe in 6 months I can ride int but dude, they are fast....you gotta remember I ride village alot. I dunno if I could do as well on a track I never ride.

Cool man! My first and only dirtbike race was at village creek back '01, I was 30 then. I Raced 250 beginner, got 8th the first moto, the 2nd moto I pulled the holeshot and led the whole first lap and finished 7th in that moto for a 7th overall. Good times. I am too old for that shit now.
Nice pics btw......I need to go out to village soon!!!!

He's further back on the seat, more rear traction and he's working the clutch.
slide back as quick as you can and be ready on the clutch to control the wheeley.
take a day to just practice starts off concrete

You dont work the clutch with a 4 stroke.
Its all throttle control.

Nice job ARH...cannot believe that you entered the beegweener class. :( On the concrete start, sit in the middle of the seat and straight up. Launch the bike and when you clear the concrete get up over the bars until the middle of third (2nd gear start). Then you can get all the way back on the seat for traction. I really need to get up that way to ride with you...maybe you can meet up with us down at Cycle Ranch in the spring? You will absolutely love that track. I sold my 07 honda and will be picking up an 08 KXF later this month.

Oh yeah...if you seat bounce that little rutted step up you wouldnt sky the front end...end hit the rear brake as soon as the wheels leave the jump face. You should also be scrubbing that jump.

Yeah, but that jump was a kicker. You shoulda seen it, it just hucks everyone and the face is so short its hard to scrub. I never have a prob landing at the right angle, that rut just shot me off to the right real hard.
zemog
02-10-2008, 08:05 PM
dont worry about it red,,,,,,,you cant and shouldnt seat bounce that jump, especially when you're coming at it 3 or 4 wide open.
do what is within your capabilities for now and the rest will come.

How do you seat bounce and scrub at the same time? I thought the purpose of seat bouncing was to get some extra pop off the face and a scrub was to stay lower to the ground.

I scrub when im sitting alot. its easier for me to lean it on the face when Im sitting. I cant throw as big of whips when Im standing for some reason.

I got into dirtbikes wanting to do nothing but toss a fat whip. I been hitting jumps since the day I got on one of these things. Racing is a whole new world. I only been on a dirtbike for two years total. I got into this at 25 years old. Most int riders have been on a bike 10 years or more. Im a pretty fast learner ;)

just remember that once you go up a class you cant come back down (per ama rules)..go out to burleson and race the nov/int. class, and if you dont wax everyone stay put (not an ama event so you can race what you want)

Fast? That is a relative term. :) I thought I was fast passing Jessica Patterson at Cycle Ranch but then Mike Alessi and Ty Connor went around me like I was standing still!

well at 14 hes faster than you ever thought about being, and ya its a relative term because obviously you werent fast enough.....do you even ride anymore?
davbrucas
02-21-2008, 06:55 PM
LOL...yeah, I still ride weekly. There are many people out there faster than me. I couldnt care less as that is not how I earn my living. I ride for fun...however, I get around the track pretty good. So you are saying that you or your friend could keep up with Alessi or Connor? Faster than me. :)

youre the one dropping names here, I never said anything about being faster than them, only that my kid is faster than YOU ever were. LMAO...you must have taken my statements wrong. I wasnt knocking your friend at all. Heck, if he is 14 and that fast, then he should be on TV in 2-3yrs. How about you, gomez, me and the rest of the fools posting in the this thread get together this spring and go a few laps for some cash? :D Then we will see who knows what they are talking about. Keep your jack rabbit friend at home though.

i'd be happy to throw the boy out there with ya,, he's been off the bike for about 8 months (started college and wanted him to study)(yeah right), i'm sure i could borrow a bike from hater and be glad to throw in some cash, you might be a good race for my son but i would leave the 14yo out of it.
