Just added the sling holder and Blackhawk sling today.

Replaced the black followers with green in 7 mags.

I was going to go with an EOTECH sight, but there have been issues with at least 5 EOTECH systems in the last several months.

I settled on going with iron sights, but I have the tritium front sight post. I never had optics on my rifles in the Marines, when I was sent to Desert Storm we didn't have any of the cool stuff you see on today's guns over there. Besides, the batteries never go out on iron sights...

I may get some optics later, but as of now I'm only allowed an EOTECH or AimPoint.

Iron sights have no battery but Tritium has a half life.

Even if the tritium goes out (my tritium night sights on my S&W 4006 are over 11 years old and still work) I still have the front sight post.....

My department has a strict weapons list. Even SWAT has select weapons they can use. I believe that they have the MP5, Remington sniper rifles, and shorty ARs made by Colt or RRA. Bushmasters weren't authorized.

The gun I have came off the approved weapons list.

I really like the Blackhawk tactical sling. You can put it over your shoulder and let it go and it hangs right in front of you until you need to swing it up. It always goes right where it's supposed to go.

It also has a bale-out clip, so I don't have to put it on/off over my shoulder.

I see.

I have a friend who works through a small town department. He rocks a Sig 552 for his duty gun. He paid for it and the LEO owns it/issues it.

WTF!?

My tritium sights are 14 years old and glow nice and bright.

Anything that's radioactive has a half life.

LOL at ignorance of nuclear half-life

Yep. I was told when I got the gun, they would only glow 10 years. They are over 14 years old now and still glow great. As I'm not a scientist, maybe the decay of material in my sights is slowed somehow because of it's environment?

It would have to be in a working nuclear reactor to not deteriorate. It's glowing less, it's just so slow over time you're not seeing it. It's not going to glow with the same intensity for 12.32 years and then cut to half power. It's been glowing less and less every day since it came out of a reactor. The half life is just the point it reaches when it's half as radioactive as it was when it was new.

Your awesomeness is keeping it at full intensity.

Did I say my sights were still glowing the same as when I got them?

I believe I said they are still glowing nice and bright. I can still see them in the dark and use them if needed.

Do you have any tritium sights?

Have you done any shooting drills with the single point sling? I had a single mounted on my rifle for a bit and when I did some actual shooting drills with it hated it. The problem with the single is the front swing that goes along with it when you try and transition from the rifle to pistol, or need to kneel down with the rifle down. I went with a Knights Armory front sling mount and am very happy with it. This is the gun I used to carry, we have dept. issued rifles now that use the Eotech system. Here are some pics of my personal gun I used to carry on duty before the dept. got them.

Not yet. Carbine school is in March. I just got it done early so I'd have it all together.

I've talked with guys that have the carbine, and the ones with the single point seem to all like them.

If I don't like it, I'll ditch it and put it on my Bushy. The Bushy is just a shorty that I take to the river for plinking...
