Time warner internet?

I tried to use the search button but it seems to be not working right now :( I need to get internet at home and was thinking about TW they have to plans that I can see the first is 7mbps for 44.95 and 10mbps for 54.95. Is anyone currantly using one of these and or in the past does it work alright for you needs? I am leaning towards the 10mbps because some of my budget for cable and internet has gone up since I was able to find a cheaper solution to my cable needs :D

If you have other options use them. TW should be a last resort if nothing else is available to you.

To answer your question about TWC, I currently have TWC for cable and internet 10 mbps (FIOS is 15 mbps, 10 seems to be fast enough), never have had an issue with either service. The thing I like most about it is that there is NO CONTRACT with TWC, unlike some other carriers, so they keep working to retain your business. Overall TWC service has been great. I understand not everyone will have the same experiences across the board, but here is my .02. :)

I would still use it but my apartments contract their buildings to Grande communications.

That's wrong, too. For all intents and purposes, U-Verse is basically the same as cable for the infastructure. They are mostly "FTTN" (fiber to the node) and rely on IP-transmission for most of their content.

Really? What's the difference between regular cable and FTTN? Or FTTN and fiber all the way?

I have had Time Warner for quite some time and Comcast before that. I have the 10mb/1mb service and test right at both caps consistently. I had enormous problems with Comcast but after the switch to Time Warner they were pretty diligent in getting the problems fixed immediately and have been fine every since. To resolve a high speed internet problem Time Warner actually came out and ran a completely dedicated drop to the other side of the house directly to the PC from the TAP and burried it so there are no splits for cable TV degrading the signal. I now have a dedicated drop for cable TV and a dedicated drop for my cable modem. This was a problem with Comcast for over two years and Time Warner had it resolved after one tech call. I have the high speed internet, cable TV, and digital phone bundle with no issues.

One more thing about TWC, just in case you'd like this feature.....

If you plan on using Outlook or Outlook Express, it can only check your email if you're on the TWC network. If you have a laptop and would like to use your mail client from another location(ie from a hotel, work) it won't allow you to send. It'll receive the last time I tried it. So you're stuck with using their POS web client. :mad:

And, should your computer get stolen and you log into the web client to access their Account Management tool to change a password, it won't let you unless you're on their damn TWC network

I've been with TWC for some time now and that's about the worst part of it for me. I've downloaded music and connected to rich-content sites.... can't really complain about speeds. BUT, I'll be switching soon anyway.
