Well, I finally took the class. I even learned a few things. It's not like I needed it, but it will be nice to buy a gun and walk out without waiting on them to call in my info..

Spent 4 years in the Marines and this month makes 16 years as a LEO.
I've been carrying in public for quite a while, just not as a CHL'er.
I thought it would be a good class to take, and it was a good learning experience.
Besides, I can write it off my taxes... ;)

Stupid question...
If you are already a LEO, why did you take the CHL class? I thought you could conceal carry as a peace officer?

leo doesn't always mean a peace officer. could be an extradition officer or a security gaurd for an agency. not that i know what he does but just cause someone says they are leo doesn't mean they are police.

In this case it does. I interpret LEO to be "Law Enforcement Officer".
Even being a police officer, I was subject to the FFL holder calling in my info each time I bought a part with a serial number on it.
With a CHL you just pay and walk out the door.
Besides, I wanted to go through the class to see what it was like. I want my wife to start carrying, and wanted to be able to tell her what it was like.
