Anyone have any seat time on a zrx 1200, any info on plusses or negatives? I finally got tired of the cruisers and want something for a little speed fix, while still not wanting to fall right back into the full fairing sport bike look. I am looking to get one, or something similar, that has a late 70's early 80's ujm look. The last liter sports bike I owned was a zx11. I assume its similar. Any ideas on other makes that are not far off in design and style?

GPZs Forever! I've been told it doesn"t turn in quite as quick as a FZ1 or Bandit.

Check out the Yamaha Maxim X. It's got a sporty cruiser style, and the hot sportbike motor of that year. My best friends got one, and it'll keep up with my R6.

Looks a helluva lot better than that green monstrosity up top, is from the same era, and is decently quick.

Too much rake/trail, skinny tires, shaft drive and less ground clearance FTL.. :(
As long as he's not into ripping up twisties, thats a kickass bike to get into. I'd take a V-Max over the Maxim for that kind of bike though..

I have a line on an 82 750 that needs a lot of work, I might have to pick it up out of principle.

That classy Lawson tribute bike up top is a 2007, and even the 1981 model would woop on that maxim.

That's bad-ass right there! I've owned several bikes from the early-'80's era that I had bought new, and always liked the look. They were all pigs...the CBX was 600lbs. and the CB900F was 550lbs.!
Those ZRX's are nice I have talked to a few people with them and they all love them. The only other comporable bike I could think of would be an older CB1000 from the 90's but they are almost impossible to find.
My first bike was a 1981 CB750F and I have been kicking the idea around about getting another for the daily commute.

I LOVE my 1100. If you want to check out more info about them go here. http://www.zrxoa.org I haven't been on a 1200 but a good friend has a 1100 with cams, pod filters and a pretty good amount of work on it and if I remember right it is 135-140 to the wheel and I love how it rides. Huge amount of torque.
I painted mine because it had been down and the paint was off on the replacement parts a bit. But I get TONS of compliments on it like this. :D
