Thursday Night GTG @ Rockhouse Addison 02-21-2008

Okay, It's been a while since we've had a decent GTG on Thursday nights since the old Carrollton Sonic days.

I've spoken with the manager at Rockhouse Grille in Addison (Formerly Pappa's Pizza) and I was told that depending on the turnout, drinks start at $1. $5 Pitchers everyday, and other specials.

We just need to get a turnout. So all of you old schoolers, and new schoolers, let's get this going. I WILL be there on the 21st.

OK So I just ran across this forum and wanted to take a minute to THANK YOU for considering ROCKHOUSE as a place to hang out! We are still brand new but are working to make the place FUN and affordable! We are not just a bar, but a full restaurant as well, featuring great stuff from the grill such as fajitas, steaks, chicken, philly cheesesteaks and more (our hamburgers are legendary), and our pizza is truly to die for. Many say that it is better than our building's previous occupants, PAPPAS...

Couple of notes for you too.

First, we have almost 30 beers on tap - crafts, imports, domestics, etc. We are proud to have some of the best beer on the WEST side of the Tollway. Shock Top is my personal favorite.

We have Fox Sports Southwest, so we get all of the regional games (Mavs, Stars, etc). You don't have to miss a game at RockHouse.

Later on Thursday nights, we have karaoke on our new stage in the other room. Karaoke at Rockhouse is a blast - usually the singers are really good, and Thursday nights we award $50 gift certificates to the best male and female singers.

AND we are happy to say that we have started live music on Friday and Saturday nights. This Friday we have Nathan Johnson, one of the best singer songwriters to grace our stage. We will be expanding our live music offerings as we start to get momentum. The cool thing is that with the music on the dining room side, you can still hang out on the bar side if you are not in the mood for the live stuff.

I don't know if Zach will see this or not but I think it is really cool of him as the owner to get on here and try to recruit us. Hopefully that will mean that in the future if a loyal following is established from DFWStangs, we or the wait staff won't get screwed at the cost of repeat business. If you don't know what I'm talking about do a search about how many times we were asked back to Pappa's, and kept that place afloat, just to have the rug ripped out from under us as soon as business started looking better.

I might try to make it this Thursday. Are there any activities like a pool table in the area? The car show is a good move also. I know the few that we had there before were fun.

I wanted to take a moment and reply to a couple of posts.

First, thank you for coming out to RockHouse tonight. My manager, Marty, will take good care of you. I have made sure he knows to give you 25% off of your pizza. And as one poster asked, we will NOT pull the rug out from under you! I believe in long term relationship building. I want to make sure we create an environment that you feel comfortable in, any time, day or night. "Cheers" had it right. :)

And secondly, thank you for the compliment on my writing ability. It comes directly from being raised by an English professor combined with a career mostly in technology and business, but also my early days in journalism.

Hope you guys have a blast tonight at RockHouse!

Don't forget we have live music tomorrow night - Sylvanshine - and there's never a cover. They play modern rock and classic rock covers. They are VERY good.

All things considered Zach...you have a great place and it was a lot of fun tonight. I will be back and I also know a lot of others will be as well. The only complaint I could find was that there are a few foosball addicts in the group and there is another pool table where the old foosball table used to be. But I will let those guys speak to that.

I hope it was busier than a typical Thursday because besides us there were only like 6 other people in the place. There were like 8 at our tables when Leah and I walked in and by the time we left you could hardly walk.. The place was packed.

Thursdays will typically be hard for us to make I wouldn't mind doing Friday HH's there from time to time.. We'll probably head over periodically just because they have my favorite beer on tap.. Pyramid Apricot Ale is some good shit. :D
