Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:

Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Yeah...the ban in the late 60s was even more hilarious; I gave a speech last year over the DC gun ban and the Chicago gun ban and it's absolutely hilarious how miserably both have failed. In Chicago in the first year alone, violent crimes rose 30% if I remember correctly.

I think for most of us all, we would fight for it, but I think it would take the reality of the news coming an and saying something to the effect of "all citizens have 7 days to surender their firearms to the following designated area" Sad, but true, that is what it would take for everyone to wake up and try to get something done...not to bad mouth anyone at all, don't get me wrong, but we as Americans do tend to wait for an action to react, rather than act to prevent an action.

This was a really stupid thing for him to do. It's a fact that people vote against candidates who are in favor of banning guns. They'll vote for a yellow dog as long as it is a vote cast against the candidate who says this. While at the same time people don't use a position that is against gun control or one that is indifferent when it comes time to decide who to vote FOR.

Really bad idea on his part, he gains nothing from it.

So another AWB is coming no matter what? One of my main reasons to vote for McCain was because I though he would not throw another AWB on us. From reading some articles you cant tell, it is one way then the other. It is looking like he is saying no to an AWB then when he gets in office he is going to go the other way and toss it on us like a plasic bag. Typical politican.

I read about a while back that Obama authored or pushed for a bill to make it illegal to use deadly force in your own house to protect yourself. That is the moment I knew I didn't want him in charge.

That there actually makes me want Hillary in office then. As soon as her husband gets caught fucking half the white house staff, she will be ousted and we dodged both of them, but who does that put in as VP. I honestly think that if Hillary is elected, she will be assassinated...there is no doubt in my mind.

this is going to be the worst election scenario EVER in the US. The only real candidate that had a clue dropped and we are left with a choice of "best of the worst".... You can't trust McCain because he flip flops all the time, Romney? Get real. Obama, there aren't enough black people to vote him into office. Hillary? can the public REALLY be that fucking stupid?...the answer is yes. It's really too bad there hasn't been a strong 3rd party candidate this year because I think it would put an end to all the BS debates over the same dead fucking issues the media have been "putting in the headlines" since the Reagon era. Also too bad I am not 42 years old! ;)

In all honesty, I could give a shit who becomes Pres. they have the opportunity to fuck a few things up but if a dem gets in office, the country is fucked. I think the best solution now is to get McCain in as pres and watch him like a hawk. Then have Fred as VP to actually get shit done and keep watch over the house. I just wish the media could be eliminated from the picture...The race has turned into the fucking Jerry Springer show and they aren't even touching education it seems.

The next AWB is coming for sure, but that won't change the fact we currently have weapons in our hands. It will probably be like the first and limit the number of rounds per magazine like in Cali and won't change the fact that criminals will get "assault" weapons however they please. I somewhat welcome a ban because our firearm values will just go up. It might be a good idea to start reloading! They will try to take away our right to Conceal carry, defend ourselves with deadly force and repeal the Castle doctrine....but that should all remain at the state level and I SERIOUSLY doubt Texas would ever let that happen.

The US is in for a bumpy ride for the next 7 or more years while all this liberal BS gets weeded out just like the hippy BS from the 60's.

As long as the weak, underprivaledged dumbshits in the world continue to look to the government for handouts and freebies...the dems will always have a fighting chance to become a socialist society like France...

Obama has a chance to win. If the women go out and vote for Obama, then it'll be him. Oprah has certainly played the female card by supporting him.

All that guy has done since entering office is run for president.

If he wins, I bet he'll want all black bodyguards and government funding for black businesses, change the name of the White House to the black house etc.

It would be wonderful.

hillary isnt much better for the issue of gun control. she flip flops anyways so everything she says is open to interpretation... at any given time.

catcher's Mitt Romney also supports assault weapons bill and brady bill.

the only one who doesnt is McCain at this point. we got rid of ron paul who was the best candidate for this issue.

Luckily, I haven't had to protect myself or others yet, but protection is as close to harming another human life as my weapons will ever get.

No joke.

We've still got 10 months to go before November, and at the rate congress moves in general (especially this congress), it will be well into 2009 before any AWB gets through.

Price is a year and a half early, SRT4.

I can go buy a complete AR for less than half of what you're asking right now. Unless that case is filled with a couple grand in gold, no thanks.,

You'll have at least 6 months to buy even AFTER the bill is proposed. Then it goes through multiple committees, then through a debating process during which a philibuster in the senate could slow it, or factor in the bazillion ways that a rules committee or calenders committee could change everything, and we've got plenty of time to buy what we need to before ARs are bringing 5k a piece.

After reading that every presidential candidate supports the banning of said rifles and high cap mags, I have gone on a crazy buying spree today. 6 stripped lowers are on their way to my FFL, as well as some accessories for my current AR15. Ordered me ten pmags for $14 a piece with free shipping.

Where did you order the mags from? I have been wanting to order some and that doesnt seem bad if it includes shipping. I was thinking about looking at ft worth next week too. If you don't mind me asking, what did those lowers run you? They didn't have the prices listed on ar15sales.com

Yeah, I guess its time for me to stock up. I might go buy 5 or 10 lowers, and grab a dozen or so SKS's. I know that I will deffinately load up on ammo too, right now I have less than 3K 7.62, and 1k 5.56. I just pray that the AWB does not get passed, I just finally bought my lifetime membership to the NRA.

A. Who is we? Glad to see you make the decisions.
B. Can you quote any gun crime statistics off the top of your head that lead you to make that statement? We all know you can look them up, but obviously if it needs to be buckled down you made that decision based on statistics not anecdotal "guns are bad and cause crime" right?

The facts say you're wrong. Neither the DC gun ban or either Chicago gun ban worked. Violent crime rose 30% (THIRTY!!!!!!) the year after it was enacted in the late 60s.

You can't make things "double illegal." More (redundant) laws will not solve the problem. In the end, gun laws are roadblocks to you and I protecting ourselves from the scum of our society.
