LOW Noise Block. Its the round plastic thing that extends out from the dish and points at it.( that the cable actually plugs into.)
I thought you just got service?

At the very least I should be able to swap out the LNB's on the dish right?

It's been years since I've touched the stuff, the dishes and LNB's were the same just someone's else's logo printed on them. So yes you should be able to swap LNB's.

I currently have a DTV one. I could not get it to work. Status revealed signal is acquired. But the LNB status is not connected. Quite possible my LNB is not any good after 10 plus years. I think I will just buy a Dishnetwork LNB to cover all basis

I am having a hell of a time with ebay. My damn computer keeps throwing up a warning saying that the search.ebay.com/ pn1adserver is trying to access my trusted sites list. Then it asks if I want to allow access and I click yes. (about 5 fucking times) then it shuts down Internet explorer. So I can't even access ebay. I have added all that shit to my trused sites list and it still won't allow me to search ebay.

Well, bought a dish network dish and can not get it to work at my mom's place. Can they register the receivers to a specific LNB?? I can't think of any thing I am doing wrong.

No I dont think they assign the lnb to the receivers I have actually switched lnb's once already because one was bad what exactly is not working or what happens when you turn on your receiver?

will not detect/lock on to the satellite. I have it dead nut on the Azimuth, skew, elevation that they recommend.

Use a signal finder something like THIS (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2289003&cp=&sr=1&origkw=signal+finder&kw=signal+finder&parentPage=search)

Ok, just a silly questiion. Isn't that what the receiver/satellite dish does? I helped a friend, but it just took getting in the neighborhood to get the satellite dialed in.

Ok I am not to smart so I don't understand what you are asking. When I was setting my dish I used the device to align my dish in the proper direction so that I could get the best signal possible. I acutally had to do it twice because I moved my dish on accident and lost the signal.
:D Ok I read it again I am guessing you just got lucky you need to be very close to the exact position to make it work. What kind of receiver did you get?

I used a compass to set up the Azimuth, used the guide on the receiver/tv for the elevation and skew. I have receiver model number 311.
What I was asking was is there anyway they can register the LNB to the Receiver now days so that you can't use another dish?

My sources tell me that for instance if you use a dish(dish) then the lnb needs to be a Dish lnb.
Dish wants their LNBs back when you cancel service, probably part of the reason it's so difficult to find any.
