My Mom retired today and I was thinking of getting another (second) receiver installed here at the house. ( i don't get mine hooked up till Saturday) Then just taking it to her house to use. I currently have a Direct TV dish on my house. I was thinking of taking this to my Moms as well along with some coax cable. Anyone ever done this?
Any down side or any way they would know that I have done this? Thanks for your input.

Does anyone see any problem with using a Direct TV dish with the receiver?

Wow, I have been researching this for 1.5 hours and not getting a clear answer on the net. I believe they are saying if the reciever is set up to receive signals from 3 different satellites, the DTV dish will only pick up two or something like that.

DirecTV dish and a Dishnetwork reciever? I really doubt that will work, there has to be something in the dish to tell it what signal to pick up from DirecTv (just my guess).

I was hoping the receiver did the decoding and the dish just brought the signal in. But you are propably right.

I know to get the new HD channels on DirecTv we had to get a new reciever (updated some shit our old one could not get updated in it) and some filter thing on the line before the reciever.

What dish is the receiver setup for?
INstead of paying for that crap why not go free to air satellite and get all of the channels you want to see for FREE! Minus the initial investment of the receiver and possibly compatible LNB's...
I've got a FTA Viewsat Ultra for sale that is USB updateable in 2 minutes with the latest files to view whatever your hear desires! $125.-00-

That sounds great, but to be honest I have no idea what a FTA Viewstat is. I am trying to make it so my mother can get satellite also. So that is why I am going this route.

Its a receiver to receive the same signals as Dish or Direct....You just input the files in it to receive Dish and voila. You pay no monthly expenses to no one.
My satellite goes down about 1 time a week. I download the latest file and bam im back up. Im not saying give this to your mom...give it to yourself bro ;)
free pay per view, free porn, free everything local and all over the US and Mexico. Basically whatever is on birds 110 and 119.
PM me if you want to know more. Ill send you the right places.
