One can’t help but be a little bit stoked at the news that the Church of Scientology – and I use the term ‘church’ only with the disclaimer that I am dripping it in sarcasm as I say/write it – is being attacked. And I don’t just mean a public spat or dismissal as we’ve seen a lot of lately. Oh no, this is a real, good old fashioned knuckle dragging fight.

According to WikiNews, which has a pretty decent summary of all of this, an internet-based group calling itself “Anonymous” has begun an all out war against the scientologists. Websites related to the ‘church’ have mysteriously disappeared from the internet, suspected to be as a result of a denial of service attack – an internet attack simply intended to render a site gone.

The biggest website to disappear is the official website, scientology.org.

Monday saw the same group release a YouTube video entitled "Message to Scientology." In it, they announce their intentions to attack the church of scientology.

A robotic voice on the video begins with "Hello leaders of Scientology. We are Anonymous," and continues by explaining their motivations: "Over the years we have been watching you, your campaigns of misinformation, your suppression of dissent and your litigious nature. All of these things have caught our eye. With the leakage of your latest propaganda video into mainstream circulation the extent of your malign influence over those who have come to trust you as leaders has been made clear to us. Anonymous has therefore decided that your organisation should be destroyed."

This video has gained mainstream attention as well, being featured by The Michigan Daily’s “YouTube Video of the Week.”

Sounds like it came from a former scientology member that came to their senses.

Anonymous, another Secret Organization, perhaps a rogue group of Knights Templars led by the reincarnation of Jacques DeMolay? Friday the Thirteenth, baby.

Sweet. I'd like to see anonymous produce a video featuring zombie L. Ron Hubbard or something of that nature.
