That's two years away... ;)
Mockingbird and 35 area. Tons of homeless and lots of vehicular burglaries. 3 people have been accosted in the last 6 months at our building and it's right next to the extended stay crack houses where all the low lifes pay $149/wk cause they can't get an apartment.

It was easily a month after the class we all took on the same day. I sent a money order instead of a check. Received the tracking info from the DPS about 10 days ago and the card showed up yesterday.
funny thing today...I am talking to a Dallas county Constable at chipotle at lunch and we sit in adjacent booths. I take my coat off and you hear this HUGE thud on the wood bench. I can only imagine what he was thinking was in my coat. :p I had been talking to him about the crime in the area and he said it had been a big problem lately with the homeless folks bothering all the "rich" folks an the north side of lemmon!
current carry is my Sig 220 full frame but I need to find something smaller. I have considered carrying my CZ 75 P01 as it is smaller and has 15 rounds and I shoot very well with it, but it's my plinker.
Now that I can, i am going to do more research into holsters and try a few on but the one I have isn't very comfortable. I may try a fanny pack and see how it looks and feels under my gut!

My big issue is the clothing we wear to work, it's difficult to truly conceal something...not to mention its a "federal" building. Technically it isn't because we lease, but the idea is that I can't leave it in the truck for fear it will get stolen with all the break ins we have had. This time of year it's no big deal because of jackets but I have a few months to figure this out!
How do you have to dress at work? The right holster for the right situation can make all the difference in the world.

Yeah, its easier for me now to conceal my XDSC, but when the summer comes around I may need to pick up some baggier shirts, just so it doesnt print.
And youre right, as long as you can legally do so, id carry it in to work also, why carry a gun if you have to leave it in your truck? :)
I also work in a pretty shitty part of town, and im glad im carrying now too.

Slacks with dress shirt or polo style shirt tucked in and I am not exactly a small guy so big loose clothing isn't going to work.
Looking for something for the small of my back, right side or a "front fanny pack"...
I tried carrying the keltec PF9 at the gun store in my pocket but difficulty getting it out quickly as it hung up...lot of good that would do in a hurry. Main reason I didn't buy it and have kept looking.

Though I have the XD40sc as my carry, I wouldn't trade the XD9sc for an XD40sc. You won't really gain much. Don't get into the caliber war hype. Spend the time and money on learning to use the pistol.

A tucked in shirt definitely makes it more difficult, however there are several companies that sell "tuckable" holsters. As they will be IWB holsters they will hold the gun pretty close to your body and the loose bit of fabric around the waist that naturally appears after sitting is more than enough to hide it. Woven shirts are much better than knits when it comes to printing so dress shirts will be better than most polos.
I was also worried as I usually wear just an untucked T-shirt. I'm tall so they don't hang very low. I found that a Concealco IWB holster holds the firearm close enough to my body that you can't even see a bulge without really looking for it. Since it's an IWB the length of the shirt doesn't matter unless it is so short that it will ride up above the beltline.
BTW, it's usually a bit easier for a big guy to conceal because the bulge doesn't appear as big. I'm 6'3 290ish. My father-in-law is 5'10 350 and you don't even notice when he wears a full sized 1911 OWB with just a polo covering it. The bulge will be more noticeable to you than to anyone else because you are looking for it. Most people wouldn't even notice if you went around with it uncovered.
Also, don't forget about an ankle holster as an option. You can get them for most compact pistols.

I really need one of those little Keltecs!
I bought a Keltec PF-9. Being so light, it's harsh to shoot. 50 rounds and my hand feels bruised yet I can shoot 300 rounds from my XD40sc and not be bothered one bit.
I know there are those who argue that a carry pistol isn't a range gun. You put 200 rounds through it then carry it. Adrenaline will be on your side if and when you have to use it. On the other hand, there are those who argue you must be proficient at what you carry. I lean more towards this camp. I sometimes shoot my carry pistol at IDPA matches using my carry gear.
BTW, Keltec has it on their website that their pistols are good for 6,000+ rounds. I've also had to send mine back to the factory for repairs. A lot of people love the P3ATs and other pocket pistols but my confidence factor is way low on these Keltecs.

Little late to respond to this (and I'm surprised none of you CHL guys didn't bash him any) but without a CHL you cannot carry your gun into those public places. The new law (if we are about the "Travel Rule") only allows you to carry the gun in your vehicle. If you stopped at the grocery store the gun cannot go in with you unless you have a CHL.

Bars with a 51/50 are one obvious place you cannot go in with a gun. Airports (I don't believe that is Federal Property) are another place where you cannot go beyond the metal detectors with a gun regardless of CHL unless it's being checked in as luggage (never did that before so no idea what's involved).

no big deal at all. just call the company you are flying with and get specifics on what they allow/how much ammo/etc and then when you get to baggage check discretely tell them you are checking a firearm.

it's my understanding that a strict "bar" bar doesn't have to post a sign.

Red lettering makes it an invalid sign. Remember, 1" white lettering in both English and Spanish with the appropriate wording.
