Nice pistol. I have two Kimbers and love them both.
All of the instructors I know hold their classes on Sat.

That's a nice first.
I think my first pistol was a 1911 also (full size).

Nice choice. My first pistol was a Glock 21; my second was a Springfield 1911. Now I'm itching to give it a .460 Rowland conversion, as soon as I'm done working up the .45 Super stuff. LOLz.

Nice first pistol.
I'm still waiting to buy my first .45 and don't know if it will be a Springfield Armory or a Sig.
I'm leaning toward the Sig because I could carry it at work...

I was looking at a couple springfields as well but for the price difference I figured the kimber was the way to go

Ive owned several Springfield 1911's, the GI and the Mil Spec. I didn't like ether, to heavy and the shot group was terrible but those two are on the lower end.
It's a preference call and for what it's worth the Kimber are all are made completely in the Yonkers, NY while many parts on the Springfield are made in Brazil. If thats matters?
You made as good choose if you ask me but I'm biases, "see avatar" :D

Beautiflul pistol you will be happy with it.Kimbers are excellent quality pistols that are affordable. Since this is your first 1911 heres some advice when field stripping it to clean. When you take the barrel bushing off becareful the spring will come out by the guide rod very fast you can loose an eye and the end piece will go flying. Also when putting back on the slide release dont scratch your frame up this is called the "IDIOT MARK" have someone who is familiar with 1911's show you how to clean it and put it back together.
