Not gonna find much in that price range. The piece of shit S&W I had was $350 and I'd say that $200 is a more fair price.

Honestly, I didn't know that they made pistols that sell for less than $200...
FEG PA63 from J&G sales. It's a .380 Walther PPK clone. Please don't buy something stupid like a Hi-Point.

Go find a good used gun that someone wants to dump for cheap.
You're not going to find a new name-brand gun for that price.

You're not going to find a new name-brand gun for that price. Agreed. I was looking to keep it around $300 and spent $400. On that note, if I hadn't gone w/ the PX4, sportingarms.com has a Ruger P95 for $290 new and a KP95 (stainless slide is the only difference) for $310. The KP95 would have been my other choice....felt good and I shot well w/ it. ...And, from what I've read, also very reliable as far as less expensive guns go.
If you can pony up an extra 100 bones, I don't think you could go wrong w/ the Ruger. Sporting Arms is in Lewisville, BTW.

I know most of the reasons people do not like Hi-Point pistols and most of them go back to poor ammo and a limp wrist. Blow back actions require a faily hot round and a firm grip so as not to absorb too much recoil. If the action does not travel all of the way back, it will jam every time. I have about 200 round through mine so far without a single problem. I haven't even cleaned it yet, just put more rounds through it to find out how dirty it has too be before it will not operate properly. You do not need replacement parts, simply mail it back to them and they will fix any or all parts for 0.00$. At first, they did have some quality control issues, just like most any new product (guns, cars, electronics, etc), but they seem to have gotten those under control. They are ugly as hell, but looks do not make it more/less accurate. For a home defense gun, they are just fine. With today's lawsuit happy society, they could not stay in business if their products were unsafe.

For another $100, you'll open up your options a great deal, just sayin'. That extra $100 will be a hell of an investment if you ever NEED to "cash in on it."

yep, and the PF9 is pretty small and light which makes it nice to carry. Bullettrap had a few left at $259 a few weeks ago. I should have picked one up but they only hold 7 rounds.
I need to find something soon because this full frame 220 is getting difficult to carry! :o

friend got a sigma for $99 because he bought a Smith and Wesson Ar15 (some gunshow package deal)... the first time he shot it the plastic cover behind where the magazine seats broke off. yay quality.

X2 on the Sigma, I was at Cabellas last weekend, the guy at the gun counter was telling me they have a bunch come back for the plastic breaking in various places on the gun...

I haven't checked in awhile but the Bersa 380 acp had pretty good reviews and was around $250 or so. If you buy something used and do not know a lot about guns then I would have someone check it out before firing.

i think I only paid about $220 for a used taurus .38 snubby. I love that little gun. Thats actually what I carry most of the time.

I've had mine for 12 years, never had a problem. The only misfire was with Blazer ammo and their cheap ass powder. It has way too much muzzle lift and wrist strain compared to my Sig P229 shooting the same ammo but for putting 15 rounds into some crackhead it'll do.

A robber breaks in and your nervous as hell. You pull out your pos 200 buck gun and it jams. Or your shaking so much that between the shaking and how innacurate the gun is you never hit the target. I would rather be nervous and shaking with a very accurate non jamming pistol. Then bothe problems compounded. When it comes to you and your familys life buy quality or one day you might regret it.

I got a S&W 910 pistol from someone here on the boards who had been trying to sell it for a while. I think I got it for $200 straight up and it' my favorite pistol. I can even swap out the 915 clips for the 910 clips.
If you are patient, you can get someone down on their price if they need to sell or haven't gotten a bite on their ad in a while.

At the Dallas Market Hall Gun Show. I'll see if I still have the vendor's contact info. The same gun was $30 more just two booths over. LOL
