Cool!...I let my boss(civil engineer) looked at the pic..he said if he had to guess on est. cost would be 150k-250k  that includes the turn around.

They would lay asphalt down first then lay concrete on top...atleast thats how normal roadways are done.

if they lay that shit right it's going be a fast track come fall.

I just got off of the phone with Cindi, the tentative date to re-open is Feb20. Of course that's subject to change - depending on weather and completion of the work. Once it's opened - they will run Wednesday through Sunday till the season starts - in hopes of getting some rubber put down...

why, you won't get traction. the more rubber cars put down on the track the better the traction will be.

The first 150 ft. of the track should still be good once they get done. The next 500 or so could be very interesting. A lot of fast cars are getting into 2nd gear at around 150 ft. There might be some good photo ops. on the first day it is reopened. :D

Rustang

Suggestion? The real fast cars might not show up for the first night, it will probably still be cold too. If they spray it and drag it a bunch, it shouldn't be too bad. I think it's gonna be great this year too.

Track had a few bumps/dips etc. Concrete barriers also had to be installed per (nhra or was it ihra?) guidelines etc. Racers were not happy with the track lately.

Surley you guys dont think that the track will be that slippery, I was there the first day Redline opened and it was a great day at the races. I know my mid 6 second truck was slow compared to all the pro mods that are on this site.

As good as they prepped the track before I dont think it will be an issue at all.

i understand concrete barriers but did they have to redo the track surface to add them?

New concrete surface will be better than the previous. Plus no more grass between wall/racing surface. Are you just wanting to whine about something? Track will be open in a month and better than it was before geez.

Lason
01-24-2008, 10:19 AM
One thing I did like about the grass though is when someone broke on the line they could pull over and not worry about dripping oil onto the concrete. Owell, Im sure it will be better than ever. That dip at the end of the track was starting to give it a bad name out there. Glad to see the owners putting money into it.

The cocrete barriers are mandated by nhra. Getting rid of the grass is a good thing as is the new walls. The track will be better than ever after this..

The wrecks have nothing to do with it. kennedale is a good most of the time and people know that. Alot of the wrecks come from people making more power and still running on small tires. When you're trying to push one of these cars harder and harder when they are already on that fine line, shit happens. It's a part of racing. Go out there on bracket night when everyone is just runnig what they can and arent worried about going faster and faster and you will see a lot less wrecks. Aslo Crandall has nothing to do with what kennedale does, redline will be the one mostly impacted by the crandall track.

LMAO, Personal attack?

All I did was ask a simple question and you got all bootie hurt over it.

It's been stated and is common knowledge that if NHRA say you do it, that means .. you do it or you don't get NHRA shit. To me, it seemed pretty damn straight foward.

I only fear Brooks when he has a welder in his hand. Although from the way he talks about it, I bet he gets a pretty mean mad scientist look in his eyes at the helm of his bridgeport.

There will be no grass on the sides of the track I believe. All Concrete. Clueless how wide the lanes will be though.

Sadly I think I would have been better off if I had hit concret ones instead of the metal ones. I don't think the car would have fliped if I would have hit solid concrete.

I read somewhere that the concrete have caused cars to launch thru the air, But I was talking more about damage to the car.

When I hit the guardrail layed over and let the car get on top of it and it was all down hill from there.

If you had a fast running car you wouldnt have to worry about the spectator fence leaning. ;)
