It was one of the better movies that I have watched recently. Jonny Greenwood did a decent job with the score, and Daniel Day-Lewis was bad ass.

I guess you could call it an epic tale of capitalism vs religion.

I give it 4 out of 5 bowling-pin cracked skulls.

Now I get the quote. Wow, movie was not what I expected at all! Not saying better or worse, just not what I expected. Not sure what I think of it just yet.

Epic.

Or maybe captivating... disturbing... though provoking. Hell, I don't know.

This movie kicks ass. It definitely had me reeling for a bit afterward. The depth and layers and twists of Daniel Plainfield's evil psyche are crazy. Daniel Day Lewis did an amazing job.

You know a movie is powerful when an entire theater will gasp in horror simply becacuse of a characters words and then laugh at other parts and then be totally silent at others.

The score was damn good too. (composed by Johnny Greenwood, of Radiohead)

And yes, there was blood.

Here's a pretty accurate review: http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Calendar/Film?Film=oid%3A581507

Pretty much what I thought. Crazy, powerful, greedy. And buying land for $6 an acre... that made me sick! :D

I'm so ready to see this..IMHO Lewis played a badass character in pretty much everything he's done.

He's really the heir to the crown of young DeNiro. He can take any part he wants because he's that good, and he can afford to pass on all the crap. "My Left Foot" and "In the Name of the Father" really offered him good breaks early on, and luckily he had the chops to back it up. He even turned that steaming pile of crap, "The last of the Mohicans," into one of my favorite movies. Without him, it'd be a pile of hokey white-man's burden bullshit. I'm going to take my mom to watch "There Will Be Blood" on Saturday. CAN'T WAIT!
