Seemed like a nice enough guy to me and I was AMAZED at how fast he got the work done. Seriously, most of my other experiences with machine shops have been bad in that they have taken a long time, Proline included.

He doesn't like having stuff sitting around his shop. The faster he gets it done faster he gets paid and can do more work. thats how he looks at it.

What's the story?
Just curious for my own reasons. I've seen some of his work, and while it "looked" decent, that's as far as it goes due to my lack of knowledge.

He struck a nerve with me when he smirked at the [minor] work done on my `69 saying he would "never have done that". And this was done by Peyton so it wasn't some dirt dauber hillbilly that didn't know what he was doing.
Peyton did what I asked and that's it, nothing less.

A while back I was needing the tubs in my vega raised. He keep telling me how easy it would be to do and he could get it done quick. after a while I told him to give me a price. He gave a ok price and was cheaper than anyone else, but I wanted it done right and in a decent time line. He promised it would be done in 2 weeks. I ordered the parts and when they arived I brought my car to his house/shop. Now by this time I had already taken all my old windows out and the old tubs and tin work was out of the car. I got the car out there and he didn't have room in his shop for it, told me he had about 2 days of work and would be finsihed with the car that was in there and could get mine in there. I wasn't in a hurry and it was winter so I let it slide. Now when I dropped my car off I put the car cover on it to keep it from raining in it. two weeks later he calls and says he has the car in the shop and will get started on it soon. The week after that A friend calls and wants to know if I sold my car? I said no, why, He told me has driving down a country road and dais he seen my car sitting in someones drive way. I asked how he could see it it had the car cover on it? He said it was sitting in the rain without a car cover. I drove out there and found my car sitting exactly where I dropped it off with the tub kit sitting in the car, the wind had blown the car cover off and was laying in the grass beside the car. I told him I would be back tomorrow to pick it up, he then moved it inside and said it would be done in two days. finaly two weeks later he calls to tell me the car is ready and then tells me it was little harder and took a little longer than he expected and was going to have to charge me more. I calmly explianed that the car had already been there2 months instead of two weeks and I wasn't paying more for what he quoted. I get there to pick the car and he only rasied the tubs 1/2" instead of 2" like I needed. Just a bad experince all around. I know some other people that have had the same problem and I think Kevin harget had problems with him too on one of his mustangs,

A friend of mine had a very similar problem as Robert had. he dropped off his mustang to had the cage upgraded to 25.5 was told a price and a time line, well after 8 months he went to get is unfinished car and was told some retarded price. they ended up working somthing out and my buddy picked up his UNFINISHED car and had to have it completed somewhere else.

Rip off?
That's subjective. ;)

I sent someone to him and it's been one f*cking thing after another (money, time, broken promises, finger pointing about who said what, etc...).
Because of my recommendation to use him, 10's of 1,000's of dollars have been spent, many months of heart ache and bickering, arguing to the point of throwing bones, and still the car has not been delivered. Again, some of the "time issue" has been due to paint scheduling and other unforeseen issues arising but RS certainly hasn't held up his end of the bargain.

No doubt, the next time I need or recommend a chassis guy, I'll be looking at JamesB. I have only heard good things about his work from people on this board that I feel I can trust.

My biggest advice to anybody getting chassis work done, is to ask alot of questions, and if you don't feel right call someone else to get their point of veiw.

Thats how I found Tony ( everyone calls him "Holeshot"), He listens more then
brags and then backs it up !!!!!!!

He worked on my soft tail dragster and fixed it, and I haven't touched in over 3 years and I take it to alot of different tracks, IT will HOOK ON ICE (lol).

Did the Dad (original founder) do the work or Stephen the son who now runs it.
I went by there a few days ago and looked and some cars "in progress" seemed like a good guy; he is suppose to come by my house to look at my coupe so he can give me a quote. FWIW you can get ATI balancers with an integrated hub which puts the danny bee beltdrive on the balancer.

Turbo is probably 2 weeks out. :(
The balancer and lower belt drive gear are all one peice?
Thats interesting

I can't comment about all the negative work at Precision Racecraft.

He's done all the chassis work on my car.

Sometimes it "does" take longer to get my car back then expected, but I've delt with Rod before.

When I see the quality of the work after my car is home all worries go away.

He has installed my minitubs, cage, TTf's fuel cell etc.

Sorry to all the people who have had bad dealings with him. :(

All the work I have had done is top notch. ;)

He's currently expanding his shop to carry a bigger work load.

If you need to see the quality of his work just gimmie a shout. :)

Me either! I don't think it would matter all that much, unless you are running a blower.
