How much does a 55 gallon drum cost?
Also I have never messed with it, how much more fuel does it burn compared to regular fuel? I have heard twice as much and three times as much.

When I run it the car uses a little less than twice as much as gas. Last year I was selling methanol for $160 a drum. I have not checked pricing on it this year.

BTA Self Storage in Rockwall sells it.... Prolly looking at $160 a drum....

Count on using in the neighborhood of TWICE as much compared to a pump gas motor.

FYI: You WILL need an entirely different fuel setup.

I've heard 2.3-2.5X the amount of gas on a high hp motor. I'll let you know for sure how much here soon enough though. :D

It cost around the 160 to 180 mark and you will burn less than twice as much.I run a 572ci and only burn about 1.5 gal a pass.

Doesn't sound to cost effective for what I'm wanting to do. I was looking at it for a street car. That was I could build a more radical motor, not worry about it over heating and was going to throw a toilet on it. I guess I will stick to a pump gas motor.

In my 393 750hp stroker I would use .80 - 1 gal. per pass. Car is not real fast just runs low 6.40's in the 1/8th. I do not spend a lot of time just at idle. If you have a problem warming up you will need to put some kind of lean out in the system to speed up warm up. This will also aid at end of day shut down to help keep moisture and methanol out of the engine oil.

No not yet. Went to put the cam in yesterday and it would not go in the last journal. The place that did the machine work and cam bearing install put the #1 bearing in the #3 spot and the #3 in the # 1 spot so now I have to take the block back to them to fix. It should be together within a couple weeks though.

Unc, this is my motor going in my car. My dads we are still running in extreme but might run a limited race or two with it untill my car is tuned and ready. I am excited about this alcohol setup! No intercooler....water pump...fan, radiator, ect...ect...Should make enough power to put Andrew on the trailer on 29's! Bring it trick! :p

Cool! You're getting out of my league with all this new high tech stuff. But I rekon in the long run it's cheaper to go to a turbo with alcohol. I guess I'll stay in the dark ages and continue to use nitrous. I spent a boat load of money on my car this winter. I hope it pays off.

Who did the machine work?Your boy Eddie. ;) He must be a Chevy guy and didn't know about the tappered cam bearings. I'll still use him in the future though.

you might try e85 if you can get it jetted right---it works great for radical street motors

It's my understanding that everyone has gone up to the $190 mark on the drums of alcohol. I beleive that includes BTA in Rockwall as well.

I know it is not cost effective, but I raced a car running Methanol with a EFI system. Would warm up nicely once I got the mixture leaned out enough when cold. Also when it got really warmed up... Added more fuel to cool it down. Loved EFI...
