Jamaal Charles leaving UT for the NFL. I think he should stay, but what do i know. Maybe this will sway Darrell Scott to go to Texas and forget about playing in the cold at Colorado.

I'd take him in the late 2nd or early 3rd..

He'd be a great compliment back for Marion Barber.

he needs to stay he's not ready for the NFL. with McFadden coming out he won't go very high in the draft!

Dumb decision but oh well. Looks like it'll be the Vondrell McGee show next year.

I agree and with speed like that he is a threat to break it anytime.

If he stayed for his Sr year he would be a 1st rd pick for sure next year

Yep. I'm interested to see how that will pan out.

As for Charles - what a moron! Then again, he isn't in college because he's smart.... You would think he'd want to give himself half a chance to go early. Not going to happen in this draft, at least I don't think so....

I hate to see him leave, but I think he's smart for doing it. He'd never get his degree anyway. You can get hurt playing college ball at any time. Take the money if you can, but try not to spend it all your first year...

Understandable. But if big $$ is what he's after, don't you think he should go in a draft that gives him more of a chance to be a first or second rounder?

I agree that he should stay, but won't be sad to see him leave. :)

He made big strides this year. Awesome break away speed. His biggest problem has always been fumbling and it seems he's improved that this year. Very good running back.

'Cept for that pesky little fumble in the RRS that sent OU ahead.

This RB class is so deep (assuming if some of the big time jrs come out)

Sure it does, but probably not to his way of thinking. He's thinking he'll be a 1st rounder, and get that "Reggie Bush" money. He won't. Most of the time kids like that have a shitload of family waiting on them to make enough money to support all of them, and are blinded by the dollar signs. Patience (in his case) would definitely pay off.

Jamaal Charles' worth

According to my boys at NFL Draft Scout, Jamaal Charles is the seventh ranked running back of projected backs coming out for the 2008 draft.

Charles' 40 is 4.39 and his low 40 is 4.32, his high 40 is 4.43.

Do you guys believe Mr. Charles will be a 20-25 carry-per-game running back?

Or do you believe Mr. Charles won't have much of a career?

Well, that would make him a solid second- round pick. I don't know if he can hold up to 20-25 carries a game in the NFL, but if he goes second round, he won't care...just show me the money!

 You don't think (if he's truly 7th best back) that he'd go in the 2nd round? Last years draft had 10-12 QB's and RB's in the first two rounds.

Dumb move on his part. He has speed, but thats really it in my mind. That and he pretty much handed the win to OU this year with his fumble at the goal line and nice tip/lob of a catchable ball. Texas is loaded at RB, so best of luck to him in the NFL.

All he see's are dollar signs. I'm sure he's had a chat with VY...

OR the Cody Johnson or Fozzy Whitaker show. Those guys Redshirted and they're supposed to be pretty good.

2nd round isn't a top 10 pick is it? I see him as poor knock off to priest holmes, now if he shows the heart that holmes did then he can be the best rb out of texas since holmes but that is a big if

unless he runs in the 4.2's at the NFL Combine, he will stay at 2nd to 3rd rounder..

He has Tiki Barber syndrome..

I don't agree with the Holmes comparison, but I did hear Galloway today say that he thought Charles would be a low 3rd round pick. Several guys argued that point, but I'm still up in the air on it.
