Ok, I'm going to be setting up a home theater (front projection) and I am looking for a decent receiver that does full HDMI switching (not just passive) as well as up conversion from component. I just want to run one HDMI cable to the projector and let the receiver do all the hard work
5.1, 6.1, 7.1 doesn't matter at this point, will only 5.1 for now.
3 hdmi inputs would be nice, but 2 will work as long as there are at least 2 component inputs.
Main concern is cost, want to stay under $500 street

I don't know of a decent receiver, that does HDMI switching for under $500. There may be one out there, but I haven't seen it.

Found one. 2 inputs and 1 output. Yamaha is a decent brand, although I know nothing about this model. Price of $499 though, I'm sure you can find it a little cheaper than Tweeter.

I believe Onkyo has a couple that will do it, and at least one in that price range. Not 100% sure, but it's worth a look.

This one will suit you just fine:

Fry's should have that for around the same price. It's 1080p HDMI pass-through. You'll have to run a seperate audio source, such as optical, coax, etc.

The JVC RX-D411S does HDMI switching. I have this receiver and it works great. Has 2 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI out. You can also convert from component to HDMI. Only drawback is that it will not accept 1080p, only 1080i.

Can find it online for about $385.
onkyo 605, a little more, but does everything you are wanting.

Thanks for the help... I basically have found four total that will all do what I want: :( why can't there just be one! They all have weaknesses, issues with the transcoding from component to HDMI etc. I'm really tempted by the HK, and the Sony; HK receivers have a good reputation for sound quality (best looking too), and the sony is best deal offering 3 HDMI inputs, and can be had for $350.
Onkyo TX-SR605
Denon AVR 1908
Harman Kardon AVR 247/347
Sony STR-DG910
