samsung makes a good TV... its got a great contrast ratio for a LCD and all the inputs you could ever want. Id say its a good deal. If you are willing to wait a while, Sharp does a friends and family discount... A guy I used to work with got a 56" shipped for $1800. Its the new Aquos series with basically the same specs

my roommate has that same tv in the same size. the other roommate has the 40". i have the 46" (4695) in the previous version.

i bought samsung cause it rated amongst the best but also cause it looked the best hanging on a wall when its off. you wont find any better unless you go sony xbr4 or samsung 81 series. i will say the new sharps that i have seen are significantly thinner than any other tv ive seen by far.

but as far as the samsung tvs, they are incredible. my only complaint is the shitty picture in picture. PIP window is only OTA tuner. you can only do PIP when you are on an input and you cant watch two digital sources at once. so i cant do HDMI + OTA high def.

oh yea and you should be able to find the tv around 1600. my roommate paid 1699 for his in august and thats what i paid for mine almost a year ago.

These are both better than that TV, not too much more either, considering what you get:

Momo: it's this one right here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000U9ZCQS/ruggedelegance31166-20/ref=nosim?gclid=CMyqtOe5y5ACFR0EsgodBhnSYA

On 12/26 they had that TV for $1299 on a 1 day sale, which is pretty sweet.

But, I picked up a NIB XBR4 for $675 yesterday. :D

There's no point really in going above a 10,000:1 since your eyes aren't going to be able to distinguish at anything above that quality. Might as well save $1300+ and go with the original LCD listed in the thread

They're long sold out though. I wouldn't pay more than around $350 for something like that anyways.
