Not to sound shitty, but I think a lot of us saw this coming. We'll just have to wait and see how the Paki's handle this.

You know, I was gonna take this week off and refuel. I'm down at my inlaws house just chillin' and my MIL watches CNN 24/7. I got up and her murder was on the tele.

So I start thinking... hmm.... financial markets should have some good volatility today maybe I'll trade. Typically, when something like this happens there is a flight to quality you can make some money off of.

Barely a blip. I think alot of people realized it was coming. Gold went up a little, the dollar weakened a little (shows what the rest of the world thinks of the US... typically a flight to quality would have included the US dollar.)

The scary thing is the possibility of a civil war and they do have the nuke.

I would imagine that any market change would only happen if there is some sort of retalliation. Since it was so obvious, no one really has that flight attitude... yet.

Nah... by the time civil unrest occurs the bets have been made. Buy the rumor... sell the news.

Funny, I just heard on Fox News the State Department is still trying to confirm she was actually killed. lol

Will be interesting to see if some make a legit connection to the murder to Musharraf.

Not a suprise to anyone. That's what happens when you have Al Qaeda assholes hiding out in your country and refuse to do anything about it.

Vegas was only giving even money on this last week, I would have put a grand down at 3:1 before the end of the year.

what are the odds on Musharraf? I think he'll be next. If that happens IMO the US needs to invade Pakistan and clean it up (and find bin laden). It will become lawless just like Afghanistan was/is.

I think theres a pretty decent chance that Musharraf was behind it.

5:1, he's got way better security. I guarantee you our secret service helped train his personal guards.

I don't watch television, so go figure the first place I hear about Bhutto dying would be good 'ol DFWStangs. Anyone know how she died? Any details, any 'breaking news'? I knew she was living on borrowed time with the situation she injected herself into, but they took it to her pretty quick considering she rarely ever left her house.

Actually, it says she was shot in the neck and chest while getting into a vehicle and the shooter then blew himself up, taking out others.

On a side note...
An interesting perspective and thought:
Here's a little something I read in January's edition of National Geographic, in Letters

"The situation in Pakistan evokes a sense of deja vu: fire-breathing revolutionaries looking to undermine a corrupt state, ideological indoctrination of the young, would-be violent revolution by a small but highly motivated cadre of dedicated militants. The last time around we called it Marxism. As then, this is a serious sociopolitical and economic conflict, not a religious matter. A jihadist is no more representative of Islam than a Bolshevik was of atheism. Unfortunately, like Marxism, jihadism feeds upon ignorance, apathy, corruption, despair, and human suffering. Where these things are rampant, jihadists find fertile ground."

John DiMarco
Brampton, Ontario

It can be very refreshing hearing an other-than-american viewpoint on the matter. He raises many great talking points on the situation in Pakistan, and these ideals radiate with fervor over the entire situation in the Middle East. When people don't have nationalism to fall back on, in support of a country, they turn to their religious ideological background to justify their actions (horrible as they can sometimes be.) Couple that with the zionist movement, and you have an all out religious war. Religion as an institution is the perpetrator here, with both sides fighting for the wrong reasons. It almost seems like a big misunderstanding, one that we'll all pay for in large sums (not just monetarily) for generations to come.

It has nothing to do with that. He would hand Osama over himself if he could but he can't because he would be out of power and dead in a week...

Musharraf is all about protecting his power. He will only lash out at threats to his power. As long as Al Queda doesn't fuck with him directly, he'll leave them alone. Bhutto was the biggest threat to his power and now she's not.

I'm not discounting Al Queda or the Talaban either. Her existence is against everything they stand for. If she ever got back into power she would likely give the US Army a lot more leeway in Pakistan.

Sadly, no surprise here at all. It was just a matter of time.

Considering that the Government took responsibility for her security you can guarantee that there will be civil unrest. It's going to be chaotic in the days to come.

I almost find it humorous regarding the speculation of declaring martial law. I don't think they are going to have a choice. From what I've been reading the magnitude of her assassination is far from being fully realized.

Fuck him. I've never thought of him as our friend. He's provided harbor to OBL since 9-11. It's a little early for conspiracies but I'll betcha it was a joint effort of Musharraf and Al Qaeda. Both would lose if Bhutto got in power.

Could be the new and explosive civil unrest might be directed at Al Qaeda et al now. Which won't bode well for Musharraf either. He'll have to really get serious with his dictatorship now but I don't think there's enough Al Qaeda and Taliban left to provide him a decent army. She was no angel either but she was pretty popular there.

Worst thing to happen is for this country to fall in to anarchy. We would have to go in and prop up the government to prevent the nuke being use in a car bomb of unbelievable proportions.

No matter the reason, what he does is still sympathize. He aids in their programs because he knows he cannot defeat them. Cowardess is no excuse for this.

The latest news says she died from a fractured skull, not a gunshot or shrapnel. Apparently she banged her head against a sunroof handle when the explosions happened.

Seems Al Qaeda still can't shoot straight for shit.

I saw that too. CNN headline stated she died from hitting her head and then in the article is said medical examiners found shrapnel that hit the side of her skull.

No gunshots found on her body, supposedly.
