Shit, I hope you don't plan on being there; you'll still be receiving blood transfusions as you lay unconscious in a body cast.

He'll be fighting as an Extra-middleweight.
If I can make it out of my hospital room, I might come watch.

For Christmas I was gonna buy you a wheelchair. ;)
I'm looking foward to this event. It's been awhile since I've competed in any martial arts event.

You're competing.
And I've started cutting today. :o I'll be in the 160 class. I'm walking at 178/180 right now so with a real good diet and the amount working out I've been doing I maybe 15x by feb. :)

This is a gi competition, right?
This is a gi competition, right?
Yup, not an MMA event. I personally believe that Gi BJJ tournaments are great for training. Learning BJJ without using striking techniques can only make your MMA that much stronger. If a practioner relies on his striking skill to weaken his opponent to make his/her ground game effective it only means the practioners ground game is weak.

Not on my own accord, but don't underestimate some people's giving nature during the holidays, especially to those less than able.
I believe Marcus Hicks will have some of his friends & stutdents in this. I will show provided I am not busted up to bad.

I meant it is a gi competition vs. no-gi. I understand it is not MMA.
What belt divisions will you guys be competing in?

I disagree with you, as MMA and BJJ no strike are very different. Even you understand if someone detects you are trying to submit them and working only on arm bars they are more apt to counter and you lose your element of surprise. Even Royce Gracie brings a mixed game to the octagon and he a BJJ legend no doubt. I have a very strong ground game but prefer to soften people up with my stand up before going into submissions or ground and pound. Also, good luck at the event!

Jimi was hungry so he left. :o I was told he showed up at 8am and by 8pm it was still going on and no one had a thing to eat so everyone bolted. I feel like a big tool for not going now but I wanted to see Seths first fight.
Anyone wanna go to EL Paso at the end of this month to do one? 120 round trip on Southwest and 40 bucks to compete.

I would imagine training there would be a blast.

Hey what is a good website to find tournaments in texas? TXMMA.com is the easy answer, but they don't post EVERY tournament. maybe I'm searching wrong. :o
Machado says that this is the last tournament that he'll be hosting ON HIS OWN since it got too damn big for his group of guys to handle. I'm hoping to see a merge of his tournament with the Star tournament or TXBJJ and have a MEGA-TOURNAMENT.
Machado is the biggest tournament I've been to. I wonder if there are any others like it in the area. (southern states)

I will think about it as time gets closer.. I do not know how big of a tourney it will be and how many advanced competitors there will be.
But it still might be a fun road trip... for sure good for you guys!
I am sure they will combine weight classes for the purples which might suck... but I am still down for that since they almost always do, so I am used to it by now.
Plus I think they might be giving a plane ticket to the pan-ams as a prize!!
