Had he scored, Dallas could've run the kickoff back for a touchdown, gotten the 2-point conversion, recovered an onside kick, and kicked a field goal to take it to overtime. Downing the ball meant that all Philadelphia had to do was kneel down until time expired.

i agree, it was very smart of westbrook. that would be what the coaches would want. most of the times players would never think of something like that in the middle of sprinting.

end the game with the ball in your hands or force your defense to come back out on the field again? easy choice.

I'm an Eagles homer and I understand about the rivarly, rightfully so.

Eagles are 0-5 this year in games decided by less than 5 points.

They lost the last 3 games by 10 points, to the Patriots, Giants and Seahawks.

It seems to me that they just wanted to win the game and if giving up one touchdown to guarantee that, well then who would blame them?
