The sign at the church down the road from my house reads, "If they're not selling Chistmas, we're not buying X-mas." Yes, "Chistmas," and it's spelled like that on both sides. I don't know what the fuck they're trying to say.

xmas takes the "Christ" out of Christmas. it is one of those politically correct deals.

Christmas is supposed to be a celebration of Christ; thus the "Christ" in Christmas. Unfortunately, that has been twisted thru the years and Christmas is now more of a commercial holiday than an acknowledgment of Christ. "xmas" is a politically correct attempt to seperate Christ from Christmas, which is ludicrous. Pay attention to retailers like lowes that are having "holiday" sales instead of Christmas sales; same deal.

The word "Christmas" originated as a contraction of "Christ's mass." It is derived from the Middle English Christemasse and Old English Cristes męsse, a phrase first recorded in 1038.[1] In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ. Since the mid-sixteenth century Χ, or the similar Roman letter X, was used as an abbreviation for Christ.[2] Hence, "Xmas" is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas.

After the conversion of Anglo-Saxon Britain in the very early 7th century, Christmas was referred to as geol,[1] the name of the pre-Christian solstice festival from which the current English word 'Yule' is derived..

.

So why not just spell out the extra CHRIST instead of the X? Is is that much trouble? xmas <> Christmas IMO. It is Christmas after all. Good Lord

Little Drummer Boy: Lyrics
Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.
