What does it mean when...

Your pc will post, sees the CPU, memory, BIOS but won't progress?


Virus kill the OS? HD crash? Guess I'll try and put the HD in the USB case thing to see if it will work that way

Boot off of your XP cd, and log into the recovery console. When you get the C: prompt, if you do a "dir" command and you can see your files, try a "fixboot" command. If it does come back up go to www.trendmicro.com and do their free online virus scan. You can also go to security.symantec.com and do their free scan also.

Will try that Mike. Currently I can't even get into setup to designate the booting from the cd. Boards less than a year old so hopefully it isn't bad.

This is wierd. Usually I've been able to at least do the above when the os is jacked.
