so i bought rock band last night.. pretty cool game, the drum pedal is hard as shit to do while drumming... the guitar is pretty easy so far on hard, and the mic is hard as shit considering i sing like a drunk monkey- its funny as shit watching women play it too

We unlocked 3 of the Metallica songs on it Saturday night. Drums on "medium" on any of those songs = hard as shit.

Be prepared for your guitars strum button to go on the fritz. I've been playing on 3 seperate systems and they have all started sticking. Read about it online, it is a known problem. In fact, Saturday night that pretty much signaled the end of our night. It was so bad that we had to strum up to play the song and I was the only person who was able to pull that off well enough to make it through a song and I was unable to do it on some of the harder songs. But then again, we play guitar on hard or expert.

How'd you Unlock Metallica songs?

The issue with the strummer is a really really easy fix. Just needs a little adjustment. Mine did it as well as many others ive read online. Other than that kick ass game.

I think it's based on the sets you complete in each city. The first system we played, we unlocked Orange Crush and Cherub Rock well before we saw any of the Metallica songs. Then this past Saturday on a different persons band we unlocked those Metallica songs, yet never saw the pumpkins and REM song. I think we played a different set of sets in different cities.

guitar-hard or expert (depends on the song or set)

I don't remember, we bounced around from city to city, then we try a mystery set or "make your own set list". stuff like that. I don't own it. A friend brought it over to another friends house.

solo's. During a song, when you come to a solo, the background will turn dark purple, and that means you can use the lower fret buttons instead of the usual top ones. And you don't have to strum when doing it. I tried using them in the "wanted dead or alive" solo but didn't like it. I may try it again at another time but it felt weird.
