View Full Version : Running the weight Rack
Who all here goes from big weight to small weights in their routine. I am still learning alot about weight lifting & I must admit this works really well for me. I feel like I am seeing gains.
How often are you suppose to run the rack like this & can you tear a muscle this way if done to often?

I am talking about example. Taking 2 40s (DUMBELLS) doing curls with both arms )(SAME TIMES) 8 reps. Dropping the 40s & going to 30s & doing it again right after the 30s & then going to 20s & then to 10s each set 8 reps back to back on three sets with 3 mins rest between each set.
I like to do that on the machines but I usually don't on free weights.

Yeah, dropsets. I do them once month or so when i want a little change.
They work good, i just dont use them much for what im trying to do.

Gracious. I did these the other day & yeah that was what Coach was calling them DROPSETS. BINGO.
I felt like I had more gains off those then anything. I don't work out in the gym but 2 times a week & most of the time I do cardio. Thus why I was asking since I don't hit the weights as hard as most people here

I do dropsets every other week, usually in a super set. I will go back down in weight sometimes on heavy days to do a 'burn out', typically on bicep/tricep/ or chest/shoulder day.
Back and legs I always go nuts on... so I end up hating life 2 days later anyways, no need to burn out.

For cock curls thats pretty good, chalk or not.
No muscle tears but I get dizzy sometimes :D

I always do at least one per muscle group per workout. Never torn a muscle.
I have injured myself from going too heavy before however.
And I''ve never heard that referred to as running the weight rack....I guess ya learn something everyday.

Drop sets is the correct term if I heard remember right. I forgot the term. Thus why I called it running the rack.

i've heard they don't do much. i'm no expert but i've heard youre supposed to end heavy do to the muscle memory. it helps the neuromuscular connection to end heavier where it knows what to prepare for. also you just increase your chance of injury

You heard wrong. It depends on your ultimate goal. You should also change your workout up periodically so always ending heavy isn't the greatest advice. And you're not going to injure yourself if you know what you're doing and practice proper form.
