The drain in my tub is draining slowly and i think there might be a toy stuck in there. How do i take that stopper out? Its one of those twisting kind. Twist to open twist to close...

3rd....no but really i think it may be broke because you should be able to twist it all the way out, or at least mine are like.

The ones in my house originally were the twist up kind. To get them out I had to raise the stopper then lean way the hell over and get a screwdriver on a screw underneath the stopper top. After that was out I just used some need nose pliers to get leverage to unscrew the part left on the tub.

Home depot had some new stoppers that just pop in and out with out having to be screwed in that I use now. Easier to clean out that way.

yeah, theres a screw thats hard to get to. I just read an article about it on another forum. Thanks for the info. If i ever remove it im going to replace it with one thats easier to remove.

on the twist up tub stoppers, they should unscrew right out of there. they will not unscrew in the up position though. they have to be in the down position to unscrew. if the top knob comes off the top there should be a slotted screw head underneath (brass) that you can get a slotted screwdriver and remove it.

Ours screw right out by hand.
