I went shooting yesterday and recentley I put the MK4 CQT on my AR and it great but the damn rifle is no where even as accurate as my Robinson. Now Im debating if I should put the CQT on my XCR. I have put about 500rds in my xcr with a total of 1,000 I didnt clean either my AR or XCR since the last shoot at the FAL shoot. I go yesterday and the damn XCR is running great without a problem. I use the AR a little and its jamming on me. I look in it and its really fillthy looking. I look at the XCR and it looks clean and never misses a beat. I know that I put 500 through the XCR 2 weeks ago and maybe 230 through the AR the same day and it does this crap. The gas piston is the way to go it was probably 85% cleaner than my AR with twice the amount of ammo used in it.

AR15s are grimey mother fuckers. Direct impingement firearms get dirty fast in my experience.

the mini-14 our performed the ar-15 in some field tests. And many say in Iraq they chose the AK over the AR due to reliability issues with the sand etc

I belive it. I was thinking yesterday when I had to keep trying to clear the AR. If I was in Iraq right then I would be Fucked and I really didnt put to many rounds through it IMO.

I have an AR that I have never cleaned with probably 3500 rounds threw it. I just give it a shot of break free and it goes.

The m16 is a proven platform in terms of reliability, accuracy, and is economical in terms of cost. I would take one over an AK any day, mainly due to accuracy.

Meh, it's just simple knowledge and a fail safe for any firearm, mission, etc. There's no such thing as a weapin that doesent need cleaning, and while some dont need it as frequently or as soon as others. You just go with things.

What's funny is the Iraqis have AK and want the M-16, M4, etc.
I've run my gun with 500 rds before without a hiccup. That was a mix of Wolf, Q3131a, Guat, Remington UMC, and Black Hills.

I've been running nothing but Wolf lately. Some guys creep out over that shit for whatever reason.

gas pistons conversions and rifles are available.
Bushmaster, H&K and I think some others have them.
It's interesting to see the evolution of the AR.
I hear lots of shouts about AR is great, and lots of shouts of AR that it stinks.
Good:
Accurate
Reliable when clean.
Bad:
Lethality.
Won't shoot dirty.
Can you get incendiary, tracer, etc. in 7.62x39?

Doesn't our military issue ARs to the soldiers?

Yes. I'm not sure you can't get components and load your own, too. I have been wrong before though.

So, why would they if they jam up and need extensive cleaning?

The AR/M16 platform is much more reliable than the guns we started with in the early 60s.
Like everything, it always has it rough beginnings. The beliefs that we had a new rifle that would never need cleaning and then changes in the powder used in our cartridges. Through the early 60s the powder would expand and gum up if wet and the lack of cleaning kits issued made them bad performers. That being said, any gun that isnt clean will fucking suck. Some just worse than others.
50 yrs later we have a gun that is reliable etc. Took us realizing there;s no such thing as a cleanless gun and the whole take care of your rifle and it'll take care of you still stands. They made necessary changes to adapt and help.
Nowadays, the only complaints you hear about are penetration etc.

I carried an M-16 A2 from 1986-1994, rain, mud, triple canopy jungle, Kuwait, Israel, I shot is quite a bit, NEVER not once jammed or mis fired.... The guys who have feed issues are probably "Ramboing", taping their magazines together like they do in the movies, they'll fill up with dirt and/or get bent.
Go buy a 5.0 fox, throw a big nitrous kit on it, don't bother tuning it, some junky assed tires will help, spray it at every red light and in the parking lot to impress every one.... don't bother with oil changes and yeah, it'll be ok on 87 octane gas..... Would you treat your car this way? well, don't treat your weapon this way either....
I'll keep my AR, don't try to give me a AK/SK/ cheap assed pile of crap....

I cleaned that AR after every use, never once did it have feed issues. Just a fact of life with the AR. Looks like you've got it dressed up nicely

1) keep your shit clean
2) you can convert your AR over to gas piston and avoid all of these complaints...
