Hey all you workout guru's, does a weight vest help get more out of a cardio workout? I do alot of treadmill and saw a vest at WalMart the other day. The weight is adjustable from 1-20 #. Can it help or is it a waste of $?
Thanks

itll make running without it alot easier and yes itll help with cardio because ur body will be training with 20 pounds more than normal so running without it later on down the road will be eaier hence less fatigue and able to run longer and easier

save yourself some money, and just pack a trashbag with sand and tape it to yourself.

It works out pretty well and it is better for your body than some of the suggestions because it distributes the weight evenly.

thanks, the sand idea is not a good one. I'm sure it would leak out and make a mess. In reference to the cost, the one I saw was ~$42. Thanks for the advice.

We have some 50lb ones here at the fire dept for training but i dont know where they came from. Just saying they make them, you add weight bars in the vest to make them heavier or lighter...

I've got the same one from wally world. It worked pretty damn good when I started running again. I started with the full 20 lbs. and should have done less. It works!

I only saw the one vest at Walmart and it was a 1-20# vest for about $42. Thanks for the advice, I'll let my kids know what Dad wants for Christmas.

I have an adjustable 50# one. Awesome workout. I don't run with it cuz it putd too much of a pounding on my knees and feet but I run bleachers, stairclimber, and elliptical with it on. I've even left it on and walked around practice with it on. Great workout. Great workout. Start out light and gradually increase so as to not strain yourself.
