I don't know if anyone on here can help, but I have a problem with my clothes washer.

I haven't witnessed it first-hand yet, but it seems like just before the spin cycle, the washer starts leaking water. Every time I come back after a load is done, there's water on the floor in front of the washer, so it has to be sometime just before the spin cycle.

The washer is about a year old, but it's been sitting for the last five or six months, is there a gasket or seal somewhere that might need to be replaced? Mymother-in-law's was doing the same thing so they changed the hoses just in case, and it didn't fix it, so we decided to use mine to see if it did the same thing, and it did exactly the same thing, so I am thinking maybe a seal is bad on both of them somewhere. Mine is a Whirlpool, I don't know the model number but if you need it I will find the paperwork. Like I said, its a longshot, but any help would be amazingly appreciated...

Mine took a dump on me last month. My problem was the washer would work then on the final rinse cycle, it would fill up with water and not cut off. They have a water cutoff switch, which sometimes gets clogged and malfunctions. I would suggest to put it through a cycle and watch it to see what the problem is.

Check the drain hose.I have seen them get a hole in them.It drain's the water then goes to the spin cycle.

Look up the manual for it online and read it. They usually have a troubleshooting FAQ...

Every time I have a problem, I take it to Bragg's Appliance in Ennis. The guy works out of his home, is very good, and very reasonable. He makes service calls, but it's cheaper to take it to him, that way you don't pay for mileage, etc...

I just took him my washer (that was about 2 months out of warranty) on the Monday before Thanksgiving. He got it fixed and let me pick it up Thanksgiving day (thank God, try living with a wife and 2 kids without a washer).

The washer was out of warranty, but the motor has a 5 year warranty. The whole thing cost me $80 and now it works like it was brand new.

He said the problem with washers is the new "Energy Star" crap. The govt makes everything take less energy, but in turn the smaller motors die faster. The average machine used to last over 20 years, but now he says you'd be lucky to get 7 years out of one.

It sounds like your drain is backing up. Fill it up, put it on the spin cycle to drain, then watch where it pumps into the washer box.

while moving the washer (and now the fucking dryer is acting up) is not an option, i can't find a problem with either of them. my knowledge on this subject is extremely limited though. what area does that guy that makes house calls live in? i might have to call him to come out here. any other people who make house calls? reccommendations will be taken into serious consideraton.

I just helped a buddy of mine with a similar problem. Long story short, we put his washer on sawhorses and found the waterpump housing cracked from a rock or something that made it into the washer.

I think he got a replacement pump for around $60

Look where the drain hose goes into, and pull a little of the hose back out and try it again. I had a similar issue when I replaced my washer, seems if you stick the drain hose in too far it can back up and overflow.

That may or may not be it...but that is a free check versus calling the repair man.

good luck

I'm fairly sure its your drain if both machines do the same thing. Watch where the drain hose goes into the wall when its draining.

That would be my guess too.. Try snaking the drain.
