Well, I've started running my wires for everything last night, and laying out where I'm going to be placing my "in wall" speakers. Surprisingly, this took a great deal of time to find the perfect location that would be in a good listening position, and still accomodate the house's structure.
I found a few places that I wanted them to go, but after searching with a stud finder, and climbing through the attic all evening, none of those places would work. After about 2 hours of nothing but frustrations, I think I've found a decent place to install them. I start cutting up sheetrock tonight......wish me luck :o

This Home Theater project is taking quite a bit longer than I originally planned. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, and I guess doing it all by myself has added a little bit of time also. But, I know the outcome is going to be worth it.

3 weeks now without any HT stuff hooked up.....I think I'm going through withdraws :(

Well, the "in wall" speakers are in and everything is wired up. Got my rack built in the closet, and all components hooked up. I've got a couple of things to clean up, then start testing everything. Man I am getting excited! :D

Should be watching a movie tonight if everything goes well!

Nick, is the sound quality diminished or muffled at all? I've seen some (a friend installed) that did. Basically, your internal wall is your cabinet. Let us know how it goes.

I haven't fired them up yet. I seriously hope that my sound quality isn't too much less than what I originally had before with my bookshlef speakers. I know it will be a little less, but I hope it's not too bad. I may have to build a box inside the wall to enclose the speaker to give it a little better sound.
Just a note, the "in wall" speakers are just the rear channels. I am keeping my towers up front, and my large center channel. So even if the sound quality is deminished quite a bit by these "in walls", hopefully I won't be able to notice too bad since they are only the rear channels.

One of the speakers is installed in an exterior wall. So I won't be able to do much with that one. It has a small amount of air space behind it, plus the insulation.

The other though, is in an interior wall, and there is a TON of space behind it. Hard to explain, but I had to mount them pretty high, and there is a drop down ceiling behind the wall that I mounted it in. So there is 10-15ft of air space behind this one speaker. This is the one I will probably have to build a box in the wall to enclose the air space.

Pics or it didn't happen ;)

Today I got all my cables in from Monoprice. I'm going to hang my speakers today.

I didn't get any before or during pictures. But I'll take some afters. Nothing to it really. Once you find a suitable place to mount them, you cut the hole and put them in there. Biggest thing was running the wires through the attic. I have more bumps in my head from all those damn nails shooting through the roof
