Any of you guys know where i could find a used set of equipment? Looking for a full set of cybex or hammerstrength or whatever. Used. Cheap. Whatever.

Got a couple of ideas im throwing around, and might go through with it to start the new year off. :cool:

I got a real nice setup that I might consider selling...
Around 500lbs in plates, 3 sets of dumbells up to 65's(I think).
It's a pretty nice setup, low pulley, upper pulley, dip bar, leg extension, preacher curl, pull up bar, pec dec, and this one you do not have to place the plates on the machine for the pulleys(it has a 200lb stack).
It gets the job done!

considering it. found a perfect location for an affordable price. seems to be a prefect setup for a decent size 'studio'. i've been doing in home training for quite a while now, and have plenty of knowledge and a decent client base. Just trying to see what my start up cost is going to be on flooring, misc. hardware, weights, computer system, etc.

i've figured it can easily be done under $10,000 start up. Probably closer to 7 or 8,000. Floors/walls are going to be one of the more expensive parts of the deal. Weights can easily be found on craigslist and ebay for real cheap. I've got a desktop and a membership type program is pretty cheap(under $100). Other than that, its just going to be misc. purchases.

Still trying to decide. May wait another 6 months or so, but now is the perfect time to start something like that with the new year coming around. I just have a lot going on, and am in the process of getting my car dealers license as well.

Damn, i think we're thinking about 2 different things here. I was thinking more like $80,000 to start a small gym. The dumbells alone would be more than a few thousand dollars. Hell, one hammer strength machine is over $1,000.

if you notice i said a 'studio'. more of a personal training studio. i use more medicine balls, stretching, light weight exercises on a ball for stability more than anything.

a small gym is going to cost a LOT more than what I am looking at. Plus, the building that I am looking at only has about 1200sq/ft of space. Not a lot of room for a full line of smith machines.

Good luck man. I saw i site that had some recycled flooring. I dont remember the site but you can search for the recycled stuff.
