I swear I have at least one light a month go out in my house, it always seems to be the same one in the ceiling fans in both my bedroom and the living room. I've had three go out in the last 4 days, all ones that I've changed with in the last month.

Any ideas what could cause them to go bad so quickly?

Are flourecents any better?

Are you using a higher wattage bulb than what the fixture is rated for?

Nope, took 60watters out put 60watters back in. The other three lights have been the same since I moved into the house back in June of '05. It's just these two lights that keep blowing on me. It's really getting annoying.

Check to see if the breaker is the right size, You could be over loading it.

those energy savers are bad ass... we put in like eight of them about a year and a half ago and i havent had to replace any of them. well worth the money if you have it to spend.

X2....Just make sure to get the brighter rated ones. They don't provide the same light as your current incandescents with the same rating.

May also try bulbs from an electrical supply house rated correctly. Most homes pull more amps then the bulbs are rated for causing them burn up quicker.

fluorescents tend to last longer and will save you $ on energy costs. if you install 1, you probably won't see a difference, but if you go nuts and re-do the entire house (like i'm about to do) it will drop your elec bills a couple of bucks.

anything to save a few $, is the way i see it. and the "cool-blue" ones i have in the den are kick-ass. :D

like ruffdaddy said, check the rating on them. some will even say "compare to 60w incandescent" but go with the 75-100w ones, IMO

CFL's for the win. Just buy a 3-pack at a time of the appropriate wattage and wait for your regular stuff to go out.
