Any place in North Texas that teaches how to shoot clays?

I have use of a Remington 870 Express in 12 gauge. Plenty of 7 1/2 shot.

At Alpine they have kids that pull for you. They are not the brightest, but have managed to pick up some tips after watching the sport all day long every day. They are usually willing to explain the basics and give you tips as you go. I don't think that they offer actual classes though.

shoulder the weapon till it touches your cheek get a nice open choke and look in the general direction of the skeet and you'll be fine. Its more about practice of leading it etc.

With a 12 gauge its easy as hell man, just figure out how much to lead the clay.

With a 20 gauge or 410 it gets more difficult, but if you can learn with a 20 then a 12 would be easy as pie. Thats what I did, given im not the best but Im not to shabby.

Actually the 870 Express I have use of is a 20ga.

I may be able to get an 1100 or 11-87 in 12ga.

20ga sounds better to learn on.

go up to academy and buy the 10-15 dollar skeet choke for it should help you out a bit

i went to rough creek lodge with my family when i was about 14, and they had an adult skeet shooting contest (dont ask me what kind of event it was). they let me enter just for fun, and i won it...lol. i had never been before, and they handed me this double over 20ga, and i took to it like a duck to water. its fun as shit!!!

Some of those kids at Alpine will smoke your ass at skeet, many of them shoot competition skeet and carry handicap ratings.... A pump shotgun isn't the best to shoot skeet with when you have to hit the doubles.... an auto is fine, but for the purity of the sport, a double is preferred.... As stated, learning the lead from each station is the key to hitting the clays... learn to shoot with both eyes open, don't squint, and don't panic.
I doubt you'll earn a handicap in 5 boxes, but you should get a grasp of the basics. Good luck and have fun!
