I figured someone would have chimed in saying Glock by now.

I was considering the xd-40, but would really like a .357. I really like the Sig p229 .357 but that is a little more pricey.

The .357sig ammo expensive compared to the 9mm or .40cal. $8-10 more per box.
Just something to think about.

I, personally, don't see any need for a .357 Sig. Want a 9mm? Get a 9mm. Want a .40? Get a 10mm. :D

I'd take either the Glock 23 or the P3AT because I've already got a full-size .40 S&W and a .357 Magnum revolver and I don't particularly care for .45 GAP.

You are a fool if you dont take the high power. A high power for 350.00 is a steal. All the others are good pistols, but the high power is a great one.

I already have a compact .40, a taurus pt140. I don't have a full size. He just e-mailed me and also has a Keltec pf9 parkerized brand new in the box.

If you're thinking about the Keltec PF-9, get the serial number then check it on the KTOG forum. They list the different generations so you can make sure you're not getting an old one before the fixes.

Also read up on "unsupported chamber" before choosing the Glock in .40SW.

Also read up on "unsupported chamber" before choosing the Glock in .40SW.If he plans on reloading, he might want to get an aftermarket barrel with a tighter chamber. Otherwise, the factory barrel will do.

Why not get an XD 9mm, since you already have the .40?

XD-LE in .45!!!!!!! I love the .45acp, He seems to be a little light in the head to be under pricing all of those guns, I'd have to cross check the serial numbers before I did anything. I'd hate to have possession of a stolen gun if I was carrying, legally or not.

Hey man, how about an actual answer.

I have both and they are both great. XDs are better as a practical weapon because, while they are a little bulkier, they have safteys as well as indicators for a loaded chamber and a cocked pin that you can feel in the dark. The Glock is slicker, quicker and lighter but doesn't have a genuine safty. Both are poly & steel modern guns and both are easy to take down and maintain.

Go for the XD. You never can tell when you will end up actually needing to depend on it in less than ideal circumstances.

A guy who actually has the guns he's taliking about has now offered an opinion

My bad, I keep forgetting that people think that they can improve on perfection in the 45 caliber....

I know a couple of guys in the area that were PMIs, I was a handgun PMI as a collateral billet when I was stationed with 1/8. I may actually know the guy....

I have an XD 40 and a Glock 23.

You can't go wrong with either. But the glock is easier to conceal due to its slightly smaller frame.

I would get the Glock 23.I love the 357 sig round its much stronger than a .40 but its expensive to feed. Probably the Glock 23 excellent pistol make sure its a gen 3 though.
