New Years Weekend in Las Vegas has become known for some of the biggest fights of the year, and 2007 will be no exception. For 13 weeks, Matt Hughes' and Matt Serra's teams on The Ultimate Fighter® reality show have been at war. Now, the coaches will have their chance to face off inside the Octagon™, and the world title is on the line. Then, the match-up that fans have waited years to see is finally here. UFC® legend Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell will step foot into the cage to finally answer the challenges of former Pride superstar Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva. UFC® 79: NEMESIS will be live Saturday, December 29 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Dana White is the Don King of UFC....and as for Liddell vs Wanderlei it seems that this fight matchup has lost its luster since Liddell has been exposed as of late by fighting some guys that actually can strike with him instead of wanting to wrassle him to the ground.

Liddel vs wandy is a dream match up people have been wanting to see for years, it doesn't matter that Liddel has lost his last two or that Wandy has been knocked out in 2 of 3, people still want to see it. Just wish it could have happend when they were in there prime....

Despite Couture's unhappiness with the money offered to Emelianenko, he still wanted to fight him. When negotiations fell through and Emelianenko signed a long term contract with another company, Couture reportedly decided it was time to move on.
Later today, the speculation will be put to rest. Couture is holding a press conference this afternoon live from the X-Treme Couture gym in Las Vegas, Nevada at 1:30pm local time (4:30pm Eastern). The MMA legend will answer “questions concerning his relationship with the UFC, future plans, MMA as a sport and anything else pertaining to his resignation.”
The press conference will air live online at ProElite.com as well as on cable television channel HDNet.
Not to be outdone, UFC has scheduled their own press conference for today at 4pm (Eastern) — just 30 minutes prior to the Couture announcement. The UFC has announced a conference call with the media on Thursday to announce a new television deal. No details were provided so it is unclear if the new deal is a renewal with Spike TV or if there is something else that has been agreed upon with another outlet. Also, Brock Lesnar, Chuck Liddell, and Wanderlei Silva will all be on the call.

Basically, Randy is fed up with being unappreciated and undercompensated for all he has done for the sport and the UFC. This, combined with the UFC not being able to provide a fight with Fedor, leaves no reason for him to fight under UFC contract any longer. He says learning of the signing bonuses other fighters(mainly Fedor) have been offered was the straw that broke the camel's back. Dana and the Fertitta's were well aware of Randy's issues due to a face to face meeting before Randy resigned and they did nothing about it, Randy called their bluff.

Hmmmm... Fedor doesn't sign with UFC... Randy quits... M-1 signs Fedor and proudly announces that they will beat UFC contract fights by a million dollars... M-1 says ANY fighter can fight their fighters... Dana White says Fedor sucks...
