Nick,

I have a question. I drove through some kind of paint that was spilled on the highway. It looks like white latex house paint. As soon as I saw it, I went to wash it off, but it is not coming off. I tried to use clay on it also, but nothing. :(

Do you have any advice on how to remove this from my car without hurting the paint? I will try to get some pics up. It is on my passenger side, from the front down the back. It looks like mud on the back fender and inside the wheel well, but nope, paint.

Thanks in advance.

That sucks :(. I remember when I was coming back from Oklahoma a couple weeks ago with my dad. We were bringing back a two full pups full of paint and one of the cartons of paint ended up leaking out of the trailer and got on all the cars that drove behind us.

Well no shit!!! I had the same thing on my car.. Got most of it off with a clay bar, but some of the big spots are giving me hell. Fuckin weird cause mine is on the same side.

It's gonna be tough to get off, which you already knew.

Keep trying the clay, you may need to move up to a more aggressive clay. The stuff you get from AutoZone is very mild.
There are some chemicals that you can use, but I don't like telling people to use them as they can harm your vehicles paint very badly if not used properly.

Yeah, we took it to a detailer here, but he was too scared to try anything too aggressive. I will keep trying the clay. If nothing else, I will use the comprehensive on my insurance. Want to avoid that as much as possible. It wouldn't be so bad if the car wasn't performance red and the paint wasn't white. Oh well. that side has a pretty deep scratch (looks like it was keyed) so it will need paint anyways. Thanks for the advice!!! :)

Goof off. it will remove it but leave th epaint hazy, you will need to buff it back out after.
I am only suggesting this because I did on a truck I had. If the paint is in bad shape IE. the clear is gone takes Nicks advice take it to him, the truck I had was only about 1 yr old.

I wish I could, but I am in Lampasas. It would be a heck of a trip to get the car detailed. :D

Plus I would be too ashamed of the condition (it ain't too bad but it could be better). I will get some better clay and give it a try.

The clay bar I used was from a paint shop, it was an over spray remover clay bar, not sure if there is a difference but I have almost all of mine off now.

Cool, I will check with one that we have friends working at. Something has to be better than what I have now.
